I'm going to team them with probably the 10-17 fisheye as well because I have just always thought it was fun to shoot and much better than most people think it will be. It'll end up being a contest between my new KP and the X-Pro 2 with Fuji glass, going to be an interesting few months...

Subjective and not lab testing (Which I don't really like anyway) but it looks good, should get one tomorrow, no doubt it will start raining on thursday!

I think John has hit the nail on the head here regarding price rises. Aren't Canon, Nikon, Olympus and Fuji products manufactured overseas? The Sterling depreciation will hit all equally so relative value should remain the same when comparing Brands. That makes it simpler for us! All we need to worry about is whether we want Pentax in preference to other Brands, whether we need / want to upgrade and whether or not we can afford it!

We'll all have to watch the pennies and appreciate what we have a little more or a little longer, it does however make me appreciate what a bargain in real terms the K1/K70 are and on features alone Pentax still nearly always win. The next generation (No I'm not a Trekkie!), simply must address the issues that Richard (richandfleur) discussed earlier in the thread, number one in my book must be pro quality video, not for me but all those who want and need it, like Richard, 4K video is expected these days and is the one feature the Pentax range is missing, I reckon this will appear first in the K3 II replacement and hopefully filter down after that but of course I cannot confirm that.
AF, I just don't know if Pentax can or will ever offer cutting edge sports shooters type AF, AF is just a minefield of patents and law suits, they could of course go cap in hand to Nikon or Canon but how much would they charge for the tech if they would even be willing? It's not Pentaxes game, I'd love to think that the K3 replacement will come out all guns blazing breathing fire, brimstone and devouring all in it's path to world domination but... I just don't see it... Pentax APSC "Pro" bodies will still be significantly cheaper than SoNikCan bodies, it's just that they will also be significantly more expensive than they were last time around...

I would be surprised if anyone who gets a KP (for mainly stills photography) would be disappointed with it - it looks a fine camera.

If there is a price increase as much as 20% on existing products, which seems unlikely to me as it would be another nail in the coffin, the K-70 would still be £400 less than the KP. The differences in the KP. some of which are improvements, are not significant enough for me to pay so much extra but, as always, to each his own. Nevertheless, I would be surprised if anyone who gets a KP (for mainly stills photography) would be disappointed with it - it looks a fine camera.
Cheers.

If as I suspect the K3 replacement is around £1400-£1450, (Still £300-£350 less than the D500) it will not be able to rest on the laurels of that price differential, it will have to perform and really perform too, a little dicky bird I spoke to the other day seemed to think that the K3 replacement could be very close indeed, pinch of salt required of course...

It's all subjective and I actually don't think Chris Nicholls gives a poor review of the KP. I think he hits on some specific areas where he feels it doesn't justify the cost, especially when comparing to the K70, which I can't disagree with. BTW, I have no hands on experience with either the KP or the K70, so my opinion is based purely on what I see on the web and what people say on sites like this one.
FWIW, I still get the performance I need from my K-5iis and my K-3 mk1, I don't feel any need to upgrade at present. A quantum leap in AF performance would tempt me, as would high ISO performance as good as a K-1.

It leads to an interesting discussion as well I think, which is how DSLR's fit into the wider community now. That may sound like a leap too far, but beer with me...
The real benefit of DSLRs is their ability to work with the fringe areas, usually in terms of low light. If the conditions as good, and there is enough light, then non DSLR modern cameras can perform really well. As bridge/compacts/mirrorless etc camera become more capable, the need for a DSLR is reduced, unless you need to work in those far edges of the bell curve.
A genuine issue for Pentax I feel is that their stills cameras are good enough already. Technology has rather plateaued in terms of sensor development when compared to the early days of digital cameras. I haven't felt the need to upgrade from the K-S1 since adding that to the K-30. Seriously, it's a 20MP AA filterless unit that returns impressive results for me, however weird the body may be. That's an issue for Pentax.
If they started to address their tracking AF, and did anything with genuine intent to improve the Video, then I might be re interested, but until then I'm just not.
And seeing smart and quality mirrorless compacts come along is starting to get my attention.
I might be totally different to other Pentax users, but I love my Pentax and love it's stills ability already. The areas to progress now need to be progressed, and cameras such as the KP just don't look to be doing that to me.
But he's not telling either!

I'm using the larger grip but foumd the medium very comfy too, the little un won't be much use for anything but the APSC limiteds to be honest but that is part of the canera's design ethos anyway.
The large and medium grips feel kind of un "Pentax" at first but they place the thumb and forefinger perfectly around the cluster of control wheels at the top of the camera, a beautiful peice of ergonomic engineering in my book. The large grip offers slightly better balance with the 16-50mm F2.8 but it feels very front heavy still, so if that is a concern to anyone, you better start saving for the battery grip! I can't remember if this was the case with the K3 as well? If the weather dries up at all this week I may actually get out with mine for the first time, I'm determined to make it's first shot be out it in the field and not the usual hundreds of "Test" shots of the cat!
Gotta scratch that itch
