Pauly, I am now happier you have informed us all of your views and what you are trying to do for the homeless, commendable. However thats the whole point, if you had not described the two images as homeless no one would have known what they were or what you were trying to convey without any ambience, surroundings to lead the viewer into this the actual theme was lost on me. When you compare yourself to other street/reportage photographers as in crime scenes, accidents, Iraqi soldiers etc, those images are set in a sourounding which emphasise the stark reality/horror and the viewer instantly knows what is trying to be portrayed. This view is based purely on your images submitted as they stand. As for the blasphemy bits, I can see why some people would take offence as well, if it were any other religion the political correctness brigade would come into play, anyhow it is just plain bad manners. I no longer wish to get involved in this discussion any further.

I'm sitting on the fence on this one, but one question -

Why has this picture caused displeasure when another of Pauly's here was well received?
From the feeling I get from Pauly's descriptions and replies to his images he is not showing any respect or sympathy to his subjects. His first image was a good portrait shot and I said so, I also tactically implied on his mug comment which went over his head. This next image does not convey anything to me other than an human being lying on a pavement. If some street surroundings were shown to elaborate he was in fact sleeping rough it might have gone somewhere to photo journalist this persons plight, as it stands it could be just a dead body conveying no message.Pauly surely these misfortunates have this so called problem not the likes of you.

Very good potrait, interesting face, sad to see him homeless, after all he is still someones son, brother or father.I wonder if he would not have asked you for more if he was aware that his so called mug would be uploaded onto the web for public viewing.

Yes Mike the 50-200 hand held it was a very strong wind near the sea front cliffs where I was shooting and had trouble standing still. RR agree but had to use faster shutter speed because of the wind.

Hi Karl, I still consider myself as a novice really when it comes to DSLR Photography and hold back on comments regarding technical debates. However I still have opinions on what I like an image to basicaly show.
I feel the images are dark, not sharp/out of focus. The first just looks that the shutter mis fired without any input. They remind me of images captured with a cheap camera phone. I hope I have'nt caused offence If you intentionally shot them to look like this. However when you post images here they are open to critique good or bad. I am not doubting your enthusiasm and suggest you study images on this and other camera forums to see what images are getting good reviews and the techniques envolved, also you could read up in camera books, maagazines on maybe getting the basics right and keep on practicing.
Good Luck Keep on Posting them.
