Yesterday afternoon I was browsing in an app for buying and selling things and came across a very interesting item. I immediately got in touch and a short time later jumped in the car for the fifteen minute journey to pick it up. Everything that came with this lens is a bonus. The K2 has something in the viewfinder and the ISO dial is extremely stiff. There was also an M 80-200mm f/4.5, a flash and various other little bits and pieces, all in an old but nice Cullman shoulder bag.

Why would they need an update for these lenses if they're the same as the original FA Limiteds but with HD coatings?

The lack of a flip-out screen has been very divisive with the release of this camera. Given that it's a high-end model and very little has been left out I suspect it was done for size rather than cost. I find the flip-out screen on my Fujifilm cameras very useful at times.

The below link is for a little £7 gadget to attach a phone to the hotshoe and if the camera has wifi to allow the phone to be used for live-view then this essentially solves the problem: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ulanzi-ST-06-Phone-Holder-Tripod-Mount-Camera-Hot-Sho...

It may not be as convenient but I think with this simple solution it's a hard sell to say that the lack of a flip-out screen is a deal-breaker for anyone.

Until the socket breaks! I had a radio with USB charging, but alas it charges no more. Also my cousin's phone USB socket broke too. They're a weak point so seemingly from experience not always a reliable method.
The issue is they're too small and flimsy or have poor soldering to a motherboard.
The micro-USB socket broke on a phone of mine a few years back after charging it every day for over a year and a half, and it cost me €30 to fix. I charge my X-T20 roughly once every two to three weeks.

I have a Fujifilm charger but since I got the X-T20, which has USB charging, I don't use it. USB charging is much more convenient even if it does take longer (five hours as opposed to three, or something like that).

For anyone concerned, chargers for the Pentax batteries can be bought very cheaply on e-Bay. I have one I bought with two third-party extra batteries. The batteries stopped working well after a couple of years (I bought a genuine one which is still going strong therefore better value) but the second charger is handy to have.

The next big question... silver or black? I wouldn't mind a nice leather strap and an extra battery but I hate grips so the premium edition is not tempting to me. Is the D-LI90 the same battery as the K-3 Mark I?
You're getting one for free anyway and I doubt PF will upgrade you to a premium edition given that the price of this new model has probably taken them a bit by surprise

Perhaps someone who gets the premium edition just for the grip will sell you their leather strap?

Certainly the premium edition in black would be my choice if I had a chance of getting the purchase approved by the ministry of finance.

Am I missing something, or have Pentax discarded both the in-body flash and the GPS/AstroTracer module?
Nope, no GPS or flash. Maybe they needed the extra space around the prism for the upgraded AF system.

The price is more or less what we expected. I've had a read through DPR's initial write-up and it looks like a beautiful machine in every way, it's just a shame it's so expensive. DPR so far almost managing to hold back on their usual "only really a viable option for existing Pentax users" disclaimer.

I just got a mail from the official Pentax shop here in Spain and the price is €1999 or €2299 with the grip and a fancy leather strap.

25.7MP
101 AF points
12 FPS
5.5 stop IBIS
Touch screen
4K video
Black or silver

One of the images shows it with the new 16-50mm f/2.8.

Add 25% to UK price because of Brexit (That wouldn't surprise me either)

What we need is for Chris to offer an extra £200 on trade ins before I put my K-1 up for sale.
Given we have an independent trade agreement with Japan we are more likely to get a better deal than if we had stayed in the EU, that ship sailed long ago.
I doubt that very much. The UK is a much smaller market.
