Hmmmmmm............ gently try and tighten the screws
Exactly this. It's probably the soultion and you can't do it any harm as long as you use a decent screwdriver and take care. I'm not sure if the best screwdriver would be a JIS or a standard Philips-type. Do relatively modern DSLRs and lenses still use JIS?

There are a few people over on the US forums who are very excited at the possibility of a manual focus DSLR but it's an idea they came up with on their own, not something based on any kind of rumour or leak. As much as I enjoy a good manual focus film SLR, getting an equivalent in digital is just not going to happen because the proportion of potential buyers for whom MF-only would be a deal breaker is far higher than the number of people who would love to see such a camera.

Plus, Pentax would make no money on sales of additional lenses as everyone would be buying vintage MF lenses instead of shiny new AF ones.

I live in Spain and will be a little north of Segovia where the eclipse will be total. I have been preparing for the eclipse since the beginning of the year, both researching what needs to be done and gathering the appropriate gear to do it - eclipse photography is a world of it's own.

I will be using a Canon 70D with Tamron 100-400mm lens for the telephoto stuff, both of which I bought (used) specifically for the eclipse. I looked into getting a long telephoto to use on the K-3, which would have given me more resolution, more dynamic range and a better, more familiar user experience, but long telephotos which are optically good and reasonably priced on the used market are virtually non-existent for the K-mount.

It looks like the skies will be clear, though the sun will be low which means more atmospheric degradation of the image. The most likely cause of failure to get decent results will be my inexperience and nervousness as I try to get the shots I want in the short time available and while trying not to fry the equipment by accidentally having the solar filter off outside of totality.

Very nice, looking forward to seeing some output from it.

You could use that to shoot the upcoming eclipse.

I just had to look up a Pentax 120mm f2.8, I had never heard of that one before and you are correct about the size and weight comparison
The M 135mm f/3.5 used to be my default telephoto lens for travel but I switched to the 120mm f/2.8 as it's a bit faster, sharper wide open and provides about the same field of view while being the same size and weight. If you can find and stretch to the higher price of a 120/2.8 then there's no reason to own the 135/3.5.

It also exists as a Super-Multi-Coated Takumar, which I also have, and I think the Tak is even sharper wide open.

An excellent price for what is the best Pentax lens I've ever used. I wouldn't part with mine.

Recently a few companies have introduced fast 135mm lenses of f/2 or f/1.8, so vintage is no longer the only way to go for that speed at such a long focal length, so I suppose that's driving prices down.
