I've long been considering getting rid of my 55-300 as I haven't really used in for three years. It's too bog and heavy to take anywhere and it's extremely rare that I want anything close to that long. However, with the recent dip in used lens prices, I haven't bothered so far.

You take good pictures? Surely that must just mean that "Wow, you must have a really good camera"?

Very nice. I have a K2 waiting in Edinburgh to be sent for repair/service somewhere.

How do you find the APX 100? I haven't tried it yet but the Flickr APX group is impressive.

In Spain, it seems Audi drivers have a special dispensation to drive at least 25Kmh faster than anybody else on any road. I stick to the 120 Kmh limit on motorways but 90% of the vehicles that pass me are Audi, some considerably faster.

But we digress. Digital is better, move on . . .
Ha ha! I commented on this to my wife a few weeks ago on a trip. I am very familiar with the tactic of cars coming right up behind you when you're already at 120 and waiting until you get out of their way, but I have noticed that the majority are Audis, and most of them are A3s.

I can understand the photography "old hands" rejoicing in digital, it is so much easier to manage. But I like film despite it's challenges - I think it's much more difficult to use now than it was back then due to scarcity of services.

I use both, enjoy both, and for different results and purposes. Film is a lot more hastle than digital, but if I wanted to save on hastle my hobby would be sitting on the sofa watching TV, not photography.

Of the photos I see on flickr, the ones that most impress me are taken on film, by people who really know what they're doing. Film is more capable than digital of recording stunning shots, at least of the type of photography that I like.

Regarding the Sigma 24-70mm, I can find references to a DG version with no aperture ring and a DF with an aperture ring, but no "DG aspherical DF" version. Can you say which it is?

I downloaded this yesterday. Some of the presets are nice, if heavy-handed by default, and there aren't that many of them. I'd say the software is of very limited use and certainly isn't worth even close to $100, but it's quite easy to play around with.

Some nice shots there. I'd like to try this lens out some day, everyone says it's great.

There's nothing like going for a wander with a fully manual lens

After a while playing second fiddle to a few other medium format cameras, I have been using the 645 again recently. The 55mm lens I acquired at the beginning of the year is proving to be just as good a performer as the 75mm.

Here are some recent shots.

I saw a couple of these for sale as new old stock for £99 a couple of years back. I already had one so I didn't bother. I wish I'd bought them because prices have gone up a lot since then and I'd have made a bit of profit.

Have fun with the new lens, it is excellent.
