The photo of the dog looks sharp to me. Of course, you'd need to check at 100% to be sure.

PM sent for 50-200, though that M 50mm is very tempting too...

Two years later, maybe that first roll didn't come out as hoped...

How about some black & white shots from the ME to push you over the edge?

Looks like the changes are going to be minor, certainly nothing I would consider paying more for. In fact, the mark II looks like it won't have a flash, which would make it a no-go for me. I use the built-in flash for fill sometimes, for simply dark situations I always use an external unit.

I've been using film for around three years now and scanning the results myself and I think I'm finally getting scanning results which are acceptable. Colours are still hard to get right, but at least I've learned to get the sharpness and grain within reasonable levels.

Shooting film is very rewarding - the cameras are a pleasure to use, gear is smaller, DoF control is greater and the whole approach is different from digital. Now I feel much less that scanning is holding back my results. Here are some shots from a roll of Fuji 400H I shot in February in Madrid and scanned at the weekend.

KX: one of mine has a problem with the metering circuit or switch (the wind lever needs to be 'offset' for the metering to work)
This is normal, all KXs are like this. I was out shooting with mine this afternoon for the first time in a while and I found I'd forgotten how annoying this little "feature" is.
I've considered asking Eric if he could bypass the advance lever interlock switch.
But It's not too big a bother, unless you're a left-eye shooter...

There's not just the question of the survival of the media and files, there's the issue of compatibility. Even jpegs will eventually be replaced and we may not be able to open even well-preserved files.
