Here's the link for SRS - Pentax lens hoods.

http://www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk/Search/pentax/Category/Lens+Hoods/

One thing about the 18-55 hood, is that it might be cheaper to buy a lens with hood on ebay then sell on the lens.

Can't help but feel you're not looking at this the right way.

What are your photographic interests? Landscapes? 12-24. Macro? 100.

The 'usual' upgrade to the kit lens seems to be either the 16-45 or 16-50.

I suspect with a bit more information regarding your photographic interests you'll see a flurry of suggestions.

They're DA-L lenses - don't come with hoods.

Try SRS.

(There have been a few similar posts on the Forum; maybe a search?)

No idea about the first two (Beachy Head?) but the rest look typical Pentax camera default - underexposed.

The settings for the first two suggest it was a bright day?

Can you remember how the camera was set up? Green mode?

If you use a variety of modes, and are using the settings the camera recommends, then it looks like you will need to boost exposure in-camera. Like others here, my K20D is set to +0.7EV.

The first two shots are odd. The CP could lose you about 1 stop, but the camera should compensate automatically (unless you were shooting in Manual mode?).

The big issue for me is that when I have used my scanners and then compared the results against the prints that match the negs, my results are rubbish! Colour and sharpness are nowhere as good as the prints.

Does it follow that perhaps the processing/scanning software is as important as the scanner hardware? What software comes with the Coolscans and Dimages?

Thanks for your comments guys.

On the subject of scanners, one of the issues (for me) is that many of the better ones seem to be SCSI, an interface I'm not very familiar with but which seems to have the reputation for being a little 'tricky' to set up.

Is this the case with the Minolta Scan Dual III?
