The modset.txt file just instructs the camera to run the command(s) you put in the file. Debug mode stays enabled, until you disable it, so you can delete the modest file off the card and/or use another card no problem

Yes, the adjustment stays in effect, it is simply a camera setting.
Thanks guys, I'll give it a try then. Run out of adjustment on my K20D.

I'll need to check what my existing adjustments are, but I'm assuming I could make a global change that would create a new base-line that'll then allow me to use the normal in-camera adjustments?

ie if all existing are +, starting, say at +3, then I could create a new base-line of '0' at +3?

PS. For the brave (?) amongst us, here's how to make the adjustment mechanically http://ricehigh.blogspot.com/2011/02/hardware-adjust-pentax-dslr-for-af.html

So, once you've used modset.txt to set AF adjustment, what next?

Is adjustment retained once you put another SD in the camera?

Another thought. What batteries are you using?

Could be that the power is just too low to run the 16-50 for some reason?

If you're using rechargeables they'll be 1.2v.

Try non-rechargeable Lithium batteries. They run at a full 1.5v as normal.

Also I think it would be beyond my computer skill level.
As I understand it use of the debug software is very straightforward, and although iBerg is right regarding risk I get the impression that it's virtually risk-free insofar as it runs from the SD card and does not make permanent changes to the in-camera software.

Anyone (Smeggy)care to comment please?

I have had a look on my K10, and I don’t have a debug option, but I think my firmware is the original, so maybe the debug was added in a later version.
No. The debug mode is accessed courtesy of a piece of non-Pentax software you download onto, and run from, an SD card.

I seem to remember Smeggy referring to it (amongst others) in another post.

So, for those of you who have calibrated zoom lenses, how?

Did you average across the range, just in the middle, what?
