Suppose you could always buy a proper lens?

Pentax 17-70 f4 at Amazon £302.92 http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001F514EA/watersphotogr-21/ref=nosim

My computer has an SD card slot, but it will not recognise SDHC cards ?, so I have to use a external card reader.
Have always felt uneasy about connecting the camera direct to the computer with a USB cable.

Maybe I am just over cautious, but when I don’t understand, I don’t push my luck.

Take care.
May not be a driver problem. I have a device that records photos to a hard disk directly from a memory card inserted into it's card reader, but because of it's age it cannot read SDHC and cannot be upgraded.

SDHC card readers are very cheap. Try 7dayshop > http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/default.php?cat=6&type=5060&man=0&go=GO&comp=

They're not the only supplier of course.

You simply put your SDHC card into the reader, then plug the reader into a USB port on your computer. Computer will recognise the SDHC reader and allow you to access the files on the card.

Just like using your built-in SD card reader, but using an external one.

+1 on accuracy (or otherwise) of AF points.

I've been following a thread elsewhere which majors on this issue, but, to ensure it's a lens problem try shooting a subject using the Tamron plus another lens at the same focal length, aperture, etc.

I'd take the test shots with the camera mounted on a tripod using a static target, being very careful not to move the camera body between shots and ensuring that the AF focus point is on the exact same area of the target.

Welcome Hubert.

So what equipment are you using?

The DA* 16-50 is my first choice if not taking the camera bag. But it does have a number of problems:
it's not wide enough
it's not long enough
it's not macro
it's not fast enough
it's not small enough
it's not light enough
Which is why I have a walk-around bag containing all my lenses

Guess I missed the point?

I saw these. Although they say Canon I'm sure they can't be make specific, only LCD size. Could be worth checking, especially at the price.

+1. If air can be forced out, it can be sucked back in (with dust, water, etc), unless, of course , it's a one-way valve, which leads to the question, anyone know how WR bodies and lenses handle 'pumping'?

Any (non fixed) lens will act as a piston, so air is being pumped in and out as the focus or zoom is operated.

Are there one-way vents to deal with this air movement?

Hi

No. It comes with a separate bellows, macro stand, slide copier etc, none of which is any use to me and I will sell it on.

I just want a decent solid focusing rail for macro to put my K-r on and this seems to fit the bill, especially as it's a pretty decent price (certainly compared with the Ebay link I posted)
I've taken a look at a copy of 'The Minolta Way', and it's clear from the illustrations that the focusing rail is designed to work with the bellows unit not the camera, ie move the bellows unit (with camera and lens attached) backwards and forwards, or up and down, not the camera/lens by itself. Admittedly the illustration in the book is of the Bellows III and IV, but...

I'll scan the relevant pages. Let me have an email address via a PM and I'll forward them to see if you agree.

Will you be using it with a bellows?
