Do you have enough RAM for the newer version? I think it needs at least 8GB to run properly. One of my PCs has only 4GB and it won't play at all.

If set to Av then adjust the aperture with the rear wheel. Check that the lens is firmly attached and perhaps wipe the lens contacts and camera contacts with a soft dry cloth. Make sure any aperture ring is set to "A".

If that all fails, try a factory reset, found in the menus. If that fails, perhaps a firmware upgrade.

If all this fails then perhaps a quote for repair fro J Pye Ltd, the official Pentax repair house.

The KM is basically a bayonet mount Spotmatic, so cases will be the same I would have thought. However, there was a simplification of cases as time went by and the M series, for example, did away with the screw fitting on the base.

If you are talking about the Main Gallery accessed from the menu at the top of the acreen then clicking 1000px will open a 1000pixel image. There should also be a fit to browser width button that open an even bigger image that will fit the screen. This probably pre-supposes that the images uploaded are big enough to do that and if they are not then there will be nothing suitable to display. The change has been added to enable the viewing of larger images for anyone who finds that useful. Nothing has been taken away.

If you are talking about the Gallery section of the forum then sometimes images that are linked rather than uploaded will disappear if the poster does not maintain the link. This might apply to images linked from Flikr etc.

If indeed we could assume that any difference was due to the retailer in the UK, who for all we know might be feeling very frustrated by an implication that may not be accurate. I don't think photographic suppliers are actually rolling in spare cash at the moment, but I don't assume one way or the other as I'm not in that business.

What I do know is that if something goes wrong, SRS will collect the faulty product, fix the problem and return it fixed or replaced with no hassle at all. They have my vote and have never let me down. To be fair to other UK suppliers, I have bought items and received perfectly good service, but not for items SRS sold because they are my go-to choice.

Pentax have a chance to fill the void as others concentrate on mirrorless. They could be a beacon for continued DSLR development.
