We're planning on being there on the Saturday.

You haven't mentioned the 18-135mm, a very versatile and pretty good lens, with the added bonus of WR.

Like a lot of things, it could leave us wondering what it actually means. I'm not sure what a "workshop" approach would be, unless it means a return to small scale hand on manufacture such as we might have found in a Leica or Rollei post war factory? Lines of people actually making cameras? Or does it mean that SRS, for example, would order say 50 K-1 II camera bodies in various colours and some with special specs and then the batch would be made for them?

Meanwhile, my Pentax cameras and lenses continue to work very well, oblivious to the new world that lies beyond them!

Sounds unwise and in any event the price can be so low I wonder why it would ever be worthwhile?

Try using centre weighted metering and appying -0.3 EV exposure compensation. Works for me.

Do you have it set to self timer, because that switches off SR.

A fast standard lens should do the trick. On a crop sensor camera the 35mm f/2.4 is inexpensive and excellent. On full frame a 43mm or 50mm would be the equivalent. Probably the 50mm f/1.4 (not the new mega-expensive version) would be the most cost effective, but the 50mm f/2.8 macro lens could be a thought as well.

The only things I can think of are updating the camera Firmware and checking the battery contacts inside the camera. IIRC Pentax cameras woulkd lock the mirror up if the power level was too low, but I don't know whether or not this is still the case.

Another thought, is the battery fully charged and is it a Pentax one. Also, how old is the battery as they do have a finite life.

Very exciting, the lens arrived at 08:30 this morning, very well packaged, Special Delivery so no expense spared on the shipping, The lens is boxed, in perfect condition and a beautiful silver jewel, so very well made it can give some much more expensive optics a run for their money. Even the velvet lined lens cap fits with a gorgeously smooth and precise action, again better than some many times the price.

Thanks LennyBloke!
