If the back is labelled Olympus it looks as though there is already a T mount adapter in place. This just needs unscrewing and a pentax k one putting in its place. A T mount ot t2 adapter amounts to the same thing. They are very simple adapters but this doesn't matter with a mirror lens, which has a fixed aperture.

Many lenses of this type are some sort of T mount. You may need the pentax fit T mount adapter which should be available from Jessops and others without too much trouble. It will not be expensive.

never heard of any camera that did that, so it looks like a Warranty Repair is needed.

At least the camera continued to function in all other respects, which is something.

I don't know for sure, but it does seem a realtively low spec for today's programs. You don't have enough RAM really for most applications.

If you have Windows 98 or 98SE that might be the problem. The new pentaxes will, I think, need Windows xp.

Thank heavens you broke it to us gently....

Seriously, though, different camera do have different applications. I like the lenses and the build quality of my Pentaxes and also the consistent ergonomics between the film and digital versions.

I've never been fond of Canon, but that's just my opinion....

With so much investment going into the production of digital lenses that only cover the APS-C sized sensors, I don't think 35mm format CCDs will happen, not in general anyway. The format size seems to be set at around 22x15mm and the quality within those boundaries may well steadily improve.

As for a bright wide angle, the 20mm unfortunately ends up as a 30mm equivalent, not much of a wide angle.

The new 12-24mm zoom looks more appropriate, but also Pentax make a 14mm and perhaps that would be more suitable for you?

Yes, there's only one DA lens, sorry I got the range wrong! I understand what you mean about the reach. If you do need that extra at the telephoto end, I'd still go for the 80-320mm Pentax lens rather than the Sigma.

If you're travelling all that way, no point being disappointed with the results....

If you want a digital Pentax telephoto zoom, how about the 55-200mm, which is well within your budget new?

I've seen it advertised at £169.99, which looks pretty good value.

Most SLR and DSLR cameras are not waterproof, and there are various points where water can get in. This leads to rust and damage of internal components. Water and especially electronic cameras do not mix!

You will probably get away with a few drops of rain, but wipe the camera dry as soon as possible. Anything more than that will potentially be disastrous.

Plastic bags, umbrellas and waterproof housings are all useful. A cheap film SLR will survive better, preferably a manual one.

Looks fair enough to me!

Don't worry, you can never be too honest
