Well actually Bob, it's never been cleaned at all but hopefully Dan will be coming round tonite and that will be resolved.

Yes your right that's why I don't usually go above F5.6 or the marks show. It's been like that ever since I went to a tank show and was changing lenses when a tank went past and kicked up a lot of dust. I did ask for a Pentax cleaning kit in my local camera shop the other day but was told I should use a different brand so I didn't bother as they weren't prepared to get it for me.

I'm afraid I only have a DS so it might be behave differently on the K10. A lot of people go on about CA & purple fringing on this lens but in normal outdoor light it doesn't really suffer. It's not a stellar performer but decent for a telephoto none of which seem magnificent, not quite as good as the M200 quality wise but much better than the Sigma I have for sale. Renders in a kind of old fashioned way if that means anything to you. I've noticed that sometimes things stand out in the foreground like it's 3D, sounds mad but here is an example ( out of focus hand held low light high iso ).




Unfortunately the BIN option is gone, I've never worked out how to get it to stay there

Last time I used it was on a trip to Scotland but apart from that I didn't use it. Beautifull build quality and lighter than the new DA one

I found it hard to focus with the DS in low light on moving targets so some of these photos will be out of focus but here goes. All taken wide open of F5.6. Sorry about the ones that are out of focus























Actually it's a cracking lens and I shouldn't have put it up for sale. I should remember NEVER SELL ANY PENTAX PRIME LENSES, you'll regret it.

I have the K version on ebay just now its at £99 at the moment finishes Sunday not as good as the M optically but at least it will be a lot cheaper.

No luck, I decided that I didn't want it that much especially not without the case. Do you want it to use ? Or just collecting ?

Now if you'd told me that before I put the 400mm Sigma AF version up for sale then maybe we could have done a swap.

There's one about to finish on ebay in under an hour, I was thinking of bidding but don't want to pay much more than £100 as I don't intend to use it I just want to complete the collection. Thanks for the info anyway.

Bought this one on Ebay this week, bought virtually unseen as the photo was very poor. The lens came with its original case, an SMC Pentax UV filter (unmarked) and the lens is immaculate, mint like new. It's taken me ages to get one of these now I just need the M*300mm F4 for the M series prime set.




When I say the full set I'm not counting the 400mm and 2000mm as they are just "K" series lenses with an "M" stamped on them. That's cheating I think.

If you allready have the 10-17 then maybe the 16-45 would compliment it. I don't do landscapes but I did use this lens a lot in Rome where it's wideness and quality were very usefull.
