I've just received a new Pentax K-3 from what I always considered to be a highly reputable UK retailer - small but a Pentax specialist.

However on receiving my new body a few things just didn't feel right so I want to ask others if you think that these things add up to the Camera having been unboxed.

It was a K-3 body only.

The first odd thing was that the bos didn't have any form of seal.

The second that the paperwork had an extra sheet of bubblewrap under it that seemed to serve no purpose (like someone had unpacked it and couldn't remember where it went)

Thirdly the mount cover was loose and a very small bit of paper/card dust was on the mirror - easily cleaned off with a lens pen.

Fourth the mount had a very slight scuff on it as if a lens had been mounted and removed and above the mount the body a very small mark I would never have noticed if my suspicions had not already been alerted.

Fifth the LCD didn't have any sort of protective stciker on it, and it did have a finger mark.

So I took an image and uploaded it straight to https://www.camerashuttercount.com/ the count was 2 - so it arrived with me with a count of 1. Some people have said that 1 is fired on production line as a check and others have said it is always reset to zero when shipped.

What do you guys think - unboxed, clicked and returned or genuinely new?

Thanks for the heads up on the Tamron 70-200 mm - It made me decide to go for the 100mm WR!

Any chance of the Tamron 70-200 f2.8 Pentax fit being in the Black Friday deals?

I think I know three tools which be alternative choices for LR and PS:

GIMP
Photoshop Watermarking Alternative

Pixlr, PicMonkey, Pisaca are all online tools, I think they are no bad either.

Wow well this thread turned out to be much more interesting than I thought it would.

When I posted I expected to just get a couple of recommendations on old glass probably prime lenses less than 18mm, because that is what I generally think of as a 'landscape lens' simply because back in the days when I used film that was generally what I was 'taught' was correct. Over the last decade I have used bridge Camera's and have always shot at the low end of 'zoom' for landscapes.

But instead we have a really interesting debate as everyone seems to favour a different focal length for landscapes - some of them much higher than I would have expected.

The thread has made me decide to experiment with the lenses I currently have to see if my assumption about focal length is silly.

With my KS-2 I got the smc dal 18-50mm and the smc dal 50-200mm as kit lenses and my wife bought me the DA 50mm f1.8 as an "indoor portrait lens." Interestingly though someon on a pentax facebook group commented on how my 'indoor portrait lens' is their favourite landscape lens as at f8 apparently it is 'amazingly crisp'.

I've added a lot of the lenses mentioned to my ebay watch lists and may grab one if cheap enough but this thread has made me realise that really there is perhaps no such thing as a 'landscape lens' just lenses that I like for landscapes.

One that really surprised me is the F 28 - 80 zoom (note - not FA). These are autofocus, cost peanuts and look quite ugly. I fished it out of a drawer the other day where it had been dumped since it arrived with some other things. The Stratford on Avon river scene in the gallery was taken with it, for example. It will get a lot more use now.
Is this the lens you're referring to?

Hi Guys

Any recommendations on a budget landscape lens for a KS-2.

I don't really care about autofocus for landscapes - as i'm rarely in a hurry when shooting them so quite happy to consider some old and used glass if you guys think the optics are good.

I enjoy long exposure.
