I have been looking around the digital slr market for the last few weeks, and the more I look the more confused i get!

The istd looked a little pricey on my limited budget, so when the DS was announced i got very excited until i read rumblings on this site that 1) my PKA lenses may not work, and 2) the DS will be more of a point and shoot camera, as it's metered manual is difficult to use.

Pentax slr's appealed to me because I have built up a good range of pka lenses which i use with my me super and p30t, and as i only shoot on manual, the new digital slr has to be capable of fully manual operation.

Can anybody give a definitive answer on whether the above two "problems" really exist. I have read the dpreview review, but that came out before the previously mentioned rumblings, so i wonder whether somebody here knows better.
thanks in advance for your help.

I have been thinking of buying the istds too, ( i also have an me super) but some threads seem to suggest that the old PKa lenses will NOT fit. Does anybody know this for definite yet?

I've just stumbled upon some old screw fit extension tubes and would like to try them. Unfortunately I have bayonet cameras! I have seen adaptors for bayonet cameras to take screw lenses, but I would need one the other way around at the lens.....do these exist?

The same problem came back last night. I still can't work out what the problem is though i have seen a post by Kim C on another question re :mesuper with a similar problem that it may be rubber dampers. Could it be the same problem with the p30? This is my third camera body, but i do find it quite useful and would like to have a go at repairing it myself, any tips?

I went out to finish off this film yesterday and though there were 9 shots left, I only got to take one, as the winder just kept on winding without cocking the shutter. I removed the film and put in a jessops freeby, and just kept winding and pressing the shutter release on B but no winder problems now.
I then opened up the back and watched as I wound on, but again no problems (set the exposure to 1 sec).
I haven't a clue what caused this , but it "seems" ok now.

I got exactly the same problem on my p30 last night, so I'll be interested in any responses too.

I only use my cameras in manual mode. The winder is taking two full winds to cock, in manual, with the lens cap off. This started well into a film (at about halfway), and it's the first time I've had this problem with this (or any) camera. The winding action feels normal, but it consistently takes two full winds. I'll finish the film off tomorrow, and have a look what the results are like.

I'd like to know the answer to this one too. I would like to remove a few specs of dust from inside the front element of a 300mm lens I have.
Perhaps we could get a job lot from the usa?

I've been thinking about investing in the istd over the last few weeks, but it's cost is a barrier, and i was surprised to see that it is quite slow in terms of continuous frames per second (my me super can manage 2.7 I think). The istds is a little quicker and a fair bit cheaper so I may well put my pennies there, if reviews look o.k.
