I have the faj 75-300 on my ds. Yep it's silver, but it works well, it's light and it only cost about 90 quid new!

32.95 pounds would swing it for me, as opposed to the 50 quid i paid for my 60x card. I'll follow you're link!

I have a 60x card and two 32x (all 512m). I shoot all sorts of stuff, and have used the 32x in continuous (shotgun in my case!) mode with absolutely no problem (often 6-8 shots at a time). The difference for me is in speed when moving files to pc where the 60x card is a fair bit quicker using my usb 2 card reader. I don't use raw much, tending to use highest quality jpeg.
my 60x card cost about 50 quid whereas the 32x card cost 28 quid, I'm going to buy another two cards for my upcoming holiday (as i also use a video camera which utilises sd cards), and I will go for the 32x or similar, as the difference in speed for me does NOT outweigh the difference in cost.

I have the faj 75-300 and like using it, and particularly like carrying it as it is so light. It was a bargain too at about 90 quid new from park cameras. I find it a bit slow sometimes though and use my old vivitar series 1 f2.8 70-210 or a sigma 400 mm f4 too, both of which are excellent on the istds.
cheers

Wouldn't bother me either, after all I've been using mine since december and saved a fortune on film. But then my *istds and 18-55 were only 635 quid anyway.

Hi M30m20, Not much more to tell you, I think the K1000 is a great camera. Personally I would use K "A" lenses, as you will be able to use them on more modern pentax cameras in future.
You will find lots of lenses available on ebay, I'll be putting a couple on there soon too (to keep the wife happy).

I have to say I have been struggling to follow the discussion!
If it's any help my camera (DS) is and always has been set to "using aperture ring" under custom functions. I also mainly use "A" lenses (set to "A"), and everything seems to work fine.
I only tend to use my camera in manual, but I just checked and all normal viewfinder info including f stop is available in all modes.
Does that answer the question? or am I even more mixed up than I thought?

I have the 75-300j and I'm very happy with it. Bought it new for around 95 pounds from park cameras recently. It's very light and compact and works well on my *istds and mesuper.

Thanks for that john, i had my eyes tested a few weeks ago cos i can never see my golf ball as easily as my playing partners - result 20:20 vision. The guy said i should try hitting up the middle once in a while!

I'll try again on the me and take some more time over it, but i felt sure it wasn't focussing at all at the wide end before the infinity point.
