Wonderful portrait, like the way you've tagged 'gentleman', I'd tag 'character' as well! Jo

I love your shot, it's kinda haunting me as since the judging I've been near the Milford Haven oil refinery and it constantly reminds me of your Doha shot at night-time, all lit up! Not quite as exotic, but a good photo remains in the memory... I like the crop (I too rarely crop my own, so felt rather strange mentioning this, but glad you agreed, isn't it so much easier to judge other people ...

Hmmm, I love gates and their different latches etc, there are maybe a dozen of us:D. Maybe this one is just not old enough, or different enough (sorry, the lock, not your photo)? Or needs lengthier afternoon shadows for the wood grain? Tis certainly in the humorous category, as the bolt doesn't engage... Jo PS I thought it was one photo per day upload to gallery, am I wrong?

Difficult to say it's a great shot, because of the subject. But the expression on the 3 pall bearers, and the background chap, says it all - shouldn't have died. Brazen shot! Jo

I prefer this one:) without the expanse of patterned gravel in the other one. I'm not technical, but think the perspective needs tweeking so that the central column doesn't seem to pull the vaulted ceilings down - obviously not the case, they've been there for centuries! Great photo, what a place. Jo

Beautiful shot, love the shine of moistness around the eyes and on the lips, and the general softness of it. Looks a little blue-grey on my screen rather than pinky - but that could well just be me. It's a lovely portrait, but the background is very off-putting, too much going on there, and the plastic thingy (toy?) Jo

Goodness, the comment was posted on the assumption there were no collectors of old boots:shock: Is there a story behind this, Patrick? They look to be in pairs rather than lonely lost single ones. I'd crop the sky out myself, it's an awfully depressing one and takes my eye from the jolly boots :D Jo

Yes, superb, bet you're glad you bothered with it, b&w really brings it out. That steam is just perfect, and so distinct from the clouds behind. Jo

Beautiful colours, it was a gorgeous sunset here too last night, I knew I should have gone out with camera but it was just too darned cold! Jo

Beautiful. I see the point behind using a white card, but prefer this flower shape-wise. It's a perfect flower and pretty symmetrical - so for my taste it might look too perfect to be true on a white background. Jo
