Thank you folks, particularly Steve, who took the time and trouble to contact me privately to offer help to an old codger who doesn't understand computers, but also to you Mike for pointing me in the right direction.
I'm glad to say that the problem has now been resolved and my camera is bang up to date.
Thanks.

Have tried this Steve and also tried downloading through the camera. the firmware is copied to the card ok by both methods but when I turn the camera on, while holding down the 'menu' button' as described in the readme file, it just comes up with the old version number and nothing else.

Hi,
In the User manual we are advised to switch off Shake Reduction when using a tripod, can anyone advise if the same advice should apply to a Monopod wher, obviously, some lateral movement is likely during use ?

Hi,
I have had my k-x for just over a year now and have tried, unsuccessfully, to upgrade the firmware from the original version, 1.00, to the latest 1.02 version. I have followed all instructions on the website to the letter but my camers refuses to take the new firmware on board. Has anyone else had this experience and, if so, did they find a solution to the problem?

Thank you one and all for your very speedy and very helpful responses to my questions.
I have taken it all on board and will slow down and familiarise myself with the lenses that I have before I get in too deep and waste a lot of money although I like the idea of maybe trading in my 50-200 lens for a 50-300 lens some time in the future- how would I go about doing this??

I am recently retired and a complete novice at photography but have recently bought a K-x camera to while away my new found leisure time by, hopefully, photographing wildlife.
I have seen various lenses advertised for sale but don't know anything about them and would be grateful for some guidance.
The lenses that have caught my eye are the 3.5x telephoto lens and the 0.4x fisheye lens which apparently can be attached to the 18-55 and 50-200 lenses which came with the camera.
Can someone please enlighten me as to what these lenses do and what sort of results I could expect by attaching them to my present lenses and maybe explain what a "fisheye" lens is ???????.
