I do understand that the DSLR is the best tool for the job, but sometimes I just dont have it with me - and its often at those times, I see something that would make a great picture. So a compact would be great, and the more DSLR functions is can manage, then better.

When I go for a run, I dont like taking the DSLR as all those moving parts inside, jostling about worries me (plus its quite heavy to be slapping against my back!).

Shame Pentax don't do something like the Panasonic LX3 or Canon S95 as I'm sure they do a pretty good job of it!

I can only speak for the Optio I-10, which I own. This camera has no bracketing mode, only burst and continuous shooting.
Thats a shame as I really like the styling of the i10 - nice little camera.

Bracketing if needed has to be done manually. I set exposure compensation as the green button function, although bracketing is rarely the reason it is used that way.
Is this the i10 as well John? I do a bit of HDR work which is why bracketing is a nice feature to have, especially with the limited range a compact has to begin with!

Thanks for the input, much appreciated - as review sites are often vague on reviewing these smaller features.

The helpful link tells me only Pentax compact cameras 9 years old can do AE bracketing!?

Anyone have any realworld experience?

Although I did have a good read at the preview of the Olympus XZ-1 - now that looks like its worth a long hard look at! Shame Pentax don't make something like that that would be wireless compatible with Pentax flash guns.

Oh Well...

Hi All,

I was musing with picking up a Pentax compact, but was wondering if any of them did Auto Exposure Bracketing? As this is one of the big +ve's on the digital SLRs which I use a hell of a lot.

The specs on the Pentax website don't really explain what more advanced features the compact cameras offer.

So if anyone has a Pentax compact and could have a look through their menu's for me, that woud be great!

Cheers,

Brian.

They are based in Hong Kong - the reason their prices are so cheap, although the Sigma gear comes with an international warranty rather than EU, so its only 1 year instead of 2 - the lens goes straight on my photoguard insurance anyways so it will just get worked on at Johnsons photopia it the worst should happen!

Onestop will also refund any import duty you might get charged (I was lucky and didn't get any on my 30mm!).

Oh, and I don't work for Onstop in case anyone is wondering, I just got a good deal

Did you check for FF/BF on yours Bob? Mine seems ok from firing at a test chart when I first got it, I was expecting to have to use the K7's adjustment.. but no need!

I recently purchased mine just after xmas from onestop digital, brand new, for a *mere* £276 inc fedex 3 day delivery - it hasn't been off my K7 since I bought it, absolutely fantastic little lens!

Would this produce enough power to maintain a temporal paradox if modified correctly? As it's cheaper than most used Tardis on the current market.

Cheers, Brian

Interested in the Flash and the Tamron then - shame I'm skint til the end of the month! It's typical something comes up after just dropping best part of £300 on a Sigma 30mm

If its still up for grabs come end of month, let me know.

Can't see a 55-300mm on Tamrons website, only a 55-200mm, 70-300mm and 70-300mm VC (this one not in Pentax mount).

So the question still stands as to which is on offer?

Is the tamron a 55-200mm or a 70-300mm? As I was not aware of a 55-300mm - so assuming a typo?
