Is having two systems a drawback for you?

Best regards
I don't think so. I still shoot a lot of film so just alternate between cameras anyway. Sometimes I'll go out shoot just film, other days just digital and swap camera systems as and when. Sometimes I take both film and digital cameras out with me, depends what kind of mood I'm in. I think though the K30 will be ideal for me to keep in the car at all times as there has been many times I've been somewhere, seen something and missed the photograph by not having a camera in the car.

If I really like the Pentax system I'll probably at some point sell my Nikon setup and get myself a K5iis and move completely to Pentax and keep the K30 as a backup. I'm still undecided though as I really like my D7000 and don't really want to sell for the sake of selling just to move brands completely.

I just bought one from a Pentax member and even though I have the Nikon D7000, I really like the K30. It's light and practical and has very good image quality. I don't think anyone will get a better value dslr than the K30 it offers a hell of a lot of bang for the buck. If I didn't have so much invested into my Nikon gear I think would could quite easily move to Pentax completely.

I've recently purchased a 645n with 45mm f2.8 fa and 80-160mm f4.5 fa lenses. Having used the set up for around 6 weeks I'm finding it difficult to justify the cost to how much I'm likely to use the gear. I've put through 5 rolls of film (2 ektar and 3 acros) and the camera itself is working like a dream. There is a tiny bit of dust when looking through the viewfinder but certainly doesn't affect the images or negatives. The camera and lenses are in excellent condition.

I paid the following
645n - £350 (ebay)
45mm f2.8 fa £249 (srs)
80-160mm f4.5 fa - £399 (srs)

Both lenses were bought from SRS and I have the receipts for them. Both lens have front and rear caps plus lens hoods.

Total £998

I've also got 5 rolls of Ilfrod Panf 50 (black and white) (£15-£20), 5 rolls of Kodak Ektar (£15-£20) that can come with the camera.

Some of the shots taken with the camera and a photograph of the camera itself is on my 645n flickr sets page.

I'd obviously like to recover as much as possible so would be looking at around £950 plus £25 insured next day delivery for the set up including the film. I would be prepared to sell the items individually. I have a pdf version of the manual for the camera and can easily supply it onto a cd.

Photo's can be provided on Thursday of each lens as I'm working nights and will have more time on Thursday to sort them out.

Looking forward to seeing your acros shots I found with the scans at least they negatives were a little on the dull side but with a bit of editing they come out much better. Probably like any photograph really ha ha. I've also done a few in the dark room and once developed into a photograph using chemicals, they really look miles better.

Excellent shots. I have some Acros waiting to be tried out myself in my 645.

Womble, I think you should go for the 6x7, from what I've seen of your shooting, I think it would suit you. I'd love one myself, but they're too expensive.

Thanks Kris

Usually most of my landscapes are shot using a tripod so I'll probably be shooting some Panf 50 soon I used a cokin 1 or 2 stop nd grad. Someone also suggested using a yellow or orange filter so I'll give that a go next time as well

Funny enough my options were to buy a 645n, 6x7 or Nikon D600/D800 and I opted for the 645n. I did a lot of research and managed to get the 645n plus 45mm f2.8 fa and 80-160mm f4.5 fa for the money I'd saved.

I currently shoot with a Nikon D7000 but been looking for a cheapish Pentax dslr to buy and just in the process of picking up a K-30. Friend of mine uses a K-x and I swear the metering is better on the k-x than my d7000

Wonderful images there Howie, looks like the 645 is going to suit you. I like them all although the second and third ones are particularly sweet. Are you using a filter with these? You are getting some nice detail in the clouds. Pan F might be a bit slow this time of year (unless you're using a tripod).

You are making me wonder whether to spend my K5II budget on a 6x7 instead...

Best wishes, Kris.
