Welcome, I started with a K110d which I still have, when I can prise my daughter's hands off it.

Enjoy the forum.

I tend to use the centre split image as John suggests, this is usually better at wider apertures.

For f8.0 on it's just a case of hoping for the best.

Only too happy to help, as for repair/service Harrow Technical seem to be used by members, as well as Asahi Photo

Good scanners are expensive Kris, I'd be inclined to do what hefty does and have the processing lab copy the images to CD.

I've done it with negative film, but not slides, I don't use that medium.

I did get one of these to copy negs. It works with varied results, some OK others bloody awful. Still it was cheap at the time (my son got staff discount!) and has allowed me to copy some older shots from pre-digital days.

I echo womble's view leytono, enjoy your new K200.

Now production is to stop (stopped?) how long will it be before the K200d disappears completely?

Remember you can still get 'new' K100d Supers out there!

I have however just bought a sigma 55 - 200 lens. Anybody had any experience with these? My first impression is that it seems ok.
If it's the AF version it's a good lens.

I have one and use it regularly, it's handy to have in the bag on city breaks as a back up to the standard lens.

If it's a manual lens, sorry can't help.

As stated on Friday in another thread.
I was advised the following by a local Pentax dealer.

K200d production stopped and discontinued, no direct replacement.
K-m still in production, no change.
K20d still in production but going to be the 'mid' range camera.
New body to be released in May/june, name not known. This is going to be the top model and, he's been told, is Pro standard.

We'll have to wait and see.

As a side apparently Samsung are keeping the G10 and G20 for the time being, but are looking at a 4/3rds type mount, but not the Panasonic one!

I've no experience of that lens but have just got a Sigma 18-200, the range is superb and makes walkabout lens changes redundant.

See if you can try the lens for a day or two first and then make a decision.

I use both a Fastpack 200 and a Slingshot 100.

The Fastpack is great for travelling and hiking, the Slingshot for shorter walks.

I don't take a tripod I use a walking pole to steady the camera which fits in both with my Tamron 70-300 fitted.

Get both, you know you want too......

Welcome to the forum, after a while you start to think about whether you need another body/lens/bit, it gets addictive using new and old Pentax equipment.

But hey it's legal and fun so...
