Is Lowepro Slingshot really that good?

Hello there!

I'm wondering - is that fancy Lowepro Slingshot 200 really as good as it sounds? I mean - how easy is it in real life to use it, sliding from back to front.

I'm not a pro or something, but i travel a lot, and i constantly have that same old problem of changing lenses over and over again. Right now i have Lowepro Mico Trekker backpack, and its really a pain in the ... to take it off, levitate in one hand while changing lens with another, getting it back on, just to repeat it all after a few moments. So i think that Slingshot bag would be perfect for me, but I'm not sure is it really that good.

I have K100D with two lenses- kit and 320mm zoom, plus a flash unit. That should fit easily in Slingshot 200.

What do you say?

I think it's brilliant. It really is easy to move it from front to back, (I don't bother with the 'stability strap' thing on the side though) and I can fit a decent amount of stuff in it - DL2, 18-55, 70-300, 135/2.8, 50/1.7, flash, extension tubes and a few filters. I don't often need all of that, but it all fits in if I need it to

The only small problem to start with was getting the shoulder strap to the right length - so that the bag wasn't too low on my back, and it wasn't too high on my chest to get my camera out of it. It does work well though.

Pentax have their own version of it too. It is supposed to be even better than the Lowepro!
I don't have one as it won't take the Bigma

I'll second Mr. Ist.. I've got the 200, and it's great. One advantage is taht you can change lenses over the bag whilst standing up, so if you have a senior moment and drop a lens, it'll fall a few inches into the padding.. better than 5' onto tarmac.

59 euros is a good price as well, they were (IIRC) £79 in a local camera shop on Saturday.

Cheers

Just noted that you're after a slingshot 200 - The one I have is a Slingshot 100AW and is good and compact, and maybe easier to travel with if you can still fit your gear (+ future results of LBA) inside- I'm surprised by how much I can fit in it.

Ive been using a slingshot 300aw for the last couple of months and im growing to love it. I tried a 100aw of a friends and loved it,but as i use a K10 with grip i wanted plenty of room so plumped for the biggest one,its easy to use if a little bulky,if i was to make my choice again id go with the 200aw.

Why is it better?
I'm about to buy one of them right now, just can't decide Lowepro or Pentax. Unfortunately i can't try them coz we don't have them in shops, so i have to buy online.

Agreed, does anyone know of a similar type bag that will take a Bigma?

A friend had the Slingshot but when he saw the Pentax one he bought it and sold his slingshot. I don't know what he liked more about it, he was less than clear on that point. Maybe he just has more money than sense. He isn't even a Pentax owner!

Looking at the sizes of the Slingshot 300 it may fit a Bigma, but I'd need to see it and try it out before forking out my €100 on one. Meanwhile I'll stick to my Tamrac backback.

My 300aw will take my sigma 28-300 at full extension if that helps anyone.
