Once you have correctly set the focal length for a manual focus lens (50mm in the case of a 50mm lens), and if it is the only MF lens you have, you need do nothing more than press the shutter button to turn off the 'Select focal length' menu because the camera will 'remember' your last setting and use it ever time until you change it.
Or maybe I just play too much with my cameras.
As for the lens Caz, persevere, the results when you get used to manual focus can be stunning.

If your after a Sigma 50-500 it may be worth a look, don't know the supplier though.

I know I don't always take things seriously but on the whole I try and be constructive.
Unfortunately not all my posts are directly related to Pentax items, but that's what the general chat bit's for. An example is my recent venting on ebay's new rules, which raised a lot of discussion.
I will try to be more serious in the future.
