It's a while since we had a pointless, rambling topic. One where people could say anything, as long as it's not too serious!

So here it is.

I'm going shopping for a coal shovel.

I just love the way Pentax are pushing the new K-x.

Let's hope the colour option becomes a future point on ALL their DSLRs.

I'd love a white K-7!

The best Carlsberg I ever had was sitting on the harbour side in Copenhagen, hoy sun, blue sky, beer, what else could you ask for?

Have a beer for me Martin!

I was referring to the cost of the battery set, John, I know that lithium cells are a one shot item, when they're dead that's it.

But a set of NiMhs or similar is still substantially cheaper then a spare battery for a K10/20/7.

Let's not knock Pentax' choice of power for the K-m/x, after all it's only a small part of the whole package!

I have an old Ziess unit that I use from time to time, usually with older film bodies to check the accuracy of their on board meter.

It's a shame there's no battery grip for the K-m/x, but if the batteries last as long as in my K200d then there shouldn't be any need to change in the field.

We've got to remember that these Kamers are aimed at novice/new DSLR users, so any cut in running costs count.

After all, how many other cameras can you get fresh power for for under a fiver?

Lend Martin my camera for a week, then I'll have a week's worth of good photos

A quick look around shows the price to be on a par with the canikony offerings.

Let's face it,£600 for a brand new camera isn't bad considering the state of the pound against the yen/euro/dollar!

Give it 3 months and then complain about the price, I know that's what I'll do.

The other thing in the review is the fact that they rate the standard lens as excellent. So you won't need to replace it to get good shots, unlike the competition!

Edit:- I forgot to mention that a lot of 'new' users will find the AA battery thing a positive. You can get them anywhere so no need to have a dead camera with flat batteries!

Yes K10, but the quality of some is ,shall we say, poor.

As for that site,Mannesty, I've used them on several occasions for Manuals.

Maybe we need a sticky thread listing all the known free manual sites.

I sent an email to the site admin, she sent this reply:-

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the link. Yes, the listing does link to my site, I've reported
this to eBay. Although there's no way I can tell if he's selling the free
manuals we scanned, but linking to my site is not right.

So she's now aware of it and will watch...
