I don't have the DAL35, I got a good, cheap DA40 instead.

Like you Bob I use this 'digital' lens on my SF/Z/MZ bodies.

Great fun.

Back to descriptions, check this one out CLICKY LINK.

Now how rare is this 'lense'?

The problem is people try selling things they have no idea about so slap 'rare' or 'top quality' on an item that, to be honest, is an everyday item to those who use them and know otherwise.

A quick image google shows the black model with both red and black lens barrels.

I would think it's just a 'fashion' thing Chris, as there's no mention I can see about different lens models.

Points taken Smeggy.

Ebay feed back is all you can go on and is usually reliable.

I know we can use lenses going back to decades, but, with the aid of adaptors (and some IQ loss) so can other brands.

It was browsing SRS and seeing a Nikon 50mm f1.8 lens for £115 and 28mmf2.8 for £240 that made me think about the OP

Now my eyes are getting older I struggle with manual focus and would really like an affordable AF prime other than my DA40 and DA100.

OK, so we're onto zooms.

The point in the OP is that other systems have 'budget' lenses available.

Why not Pentax?

We have to rely on old lenses and other manufacturers, but a range of DAL lenses must increase sales and options, and as such entice people to the brand.

BTW, I'd also like a long (affordable) lens.

In fact you can get an AF Pentax FA 50/1.4 for about £200
Where?

And what warranty does it have?

The point I'm trying to make is that other brands have new, available primes that don't cost the earth, why not Pentax?

There was a perfect example on ebay of what nonsense this method of bidding is link

A 28mm Pentax M lens with what the seller described as:
"HEAVY FUNGUS INSIDE LENS" It's worth £10 - £15 at the most but sold for an unbelieveable £41 + £3 postage all because of idiotic or shill bidding The last bid was so idiotic that no one else bid again and that bid stood for 3 days.

For whatever reason the lens is back on sale link

TOP QUALITY LENS

That's what the page says, now that to me means one in A1 condition.

Not a fungus riden wreck!
