Go for it johnha, you can always use it until it dies then try a modern battery the same size using the spacer .

I look forward to seeing some shots taken with your new pride and joy, the next step is B&W and developing your own...

... oh the addiction...

Agree to dis-agree ChrisR and ChrisPlatt.

I used a modern 'cheap' modern battery in my SPII and this is the result.

I'm happy that they work OK so..

As another M42 body, just for fun, why not try a Zenit?

Smaller than the Practicas and, I think, nicer to use. LINK

Have I missed the goths?

Or was it just coincidence that 2, yes 2 Pentax users were in Whitby at the same time?

Looks like it was a quiet weekend, well done to the F1 team at the beeb, as well as Nico, smile Lewis, you're leading the championship!

Here, well Saturday night went well, it must have, I had a slight hangover on Sunday morning...

I remember when I was on crutches, sheer hell!!

As soon as I could walk with a stick the crutches went back, it seems strange that the boss never offered to get me a wheelchair.

Maybe she knew something I don't.

Tidying time, we've some good friends coming for the evening meal tonight...

... so good that Anne's bringing it with her!

You know Kris, I've looked at and used my spotties a lot, it never dawned that the SPII had a Hot shoe fitted until now!

I hadn't realised it was a permanent fixture, not a slip on addition.

I use ordinary button cells with a smallspacer made from a tag tie in my bodies, they seem to meter OK.

I'd say any of the spotmatics before the F, that's what I would say though.

In general the Spotmatics are a solid body, don't be put off by the SP500, it does have a hidden 1/1000th above the 1/500th.

Just check the meter on what ever you get against a known so you know where you are with it.

Well over a week into the broken leg adventure.

She's holding up well, better than me, I'm knac****d from all the running around after her.

I'm off to collect a wheelchair tomorrow, I can't get my head round why we need one, the boss say's it's so she can get out and about.

I think she's trying to slim me down with all the pushing I'll be doing!

For home developing I highly recomend the AGFA Rondinax tanks.

They turn up on Ebay regularly at reasonable prices and, as long as complete, are easy to use.

I do all my B&W stuff in one with (for me) good results.

There's several up at the moment LINK but make sure you get the 35U model, the 60's for 120 films!
