Not wishing to get off topic but my impression of the kit lens is that there is some sample variation. My first series lens is lovely and as a result I have never felt the need to upgrade to a different "standard" zoom (especially considering the distortions the 16-50 suffers, and besides I use my 12-24 for buildings which is when the distortion would bother me). Others have, however, been less happy. Somewhere in the guts of the PUF archive is a thread of images taken with the kit lens.

The K30 looks a great offering. The only thing my K20D has extra is the top LCD. I'm curious to see what the new top-of-the-line model will be. Hopefully it'll be good enough to flood the market with second hand K-5s...

THIS IS THE THREAD your refering to Kris.

It would be nice if they offered the K30 with a choice of lenses.

Not the 18-55/50-200 bundlebut, say, theDA 35mm f2.4.

Or even the (also announced) DA50..

Ok, the kit lens, although uninspireing, can and does produce good images.
This Link was from a few years back.

Remember that Pentax have one of the best 18-55s out there, unlike canon, whos kit lens is so dire...

What makes the lens look poor is usually bad camera software, something Pentax excell at.

Let's hope thenew bodies carry on in this tradition.

ESP=Electronic Stability Program.

Or in other words, the bit what stops wheel spin, wallowing, brakes locking up and stalling(on some cars).

What happened to throttle control and springs??

Xsara Picasso showed 1/4 tank of petrol...

...stopped at traffic lights and engine died....

....turned out it was empty, no fuel at all!

A quick computer update and the problem was solved and the car went on to do 100,000ish miles before we swapped it for the C4 Picasso we have now.

Searches in charity shops throw up Espios for pence, the last one I saw was 50p!!

For a bit more they often come witha case and manual.

I'd like to hear the response of those poor canon users who now think the FD mount will fit their EOS digital bodies!

Or the micro 4/3rds users trying to fit an Olympus lens without an adaptor!
