I'm with Greynolds on this.

If you can try it out then do so. A few scratches should be OK,but if it looks like it's been cleaned with a Brillo pad...

Going by the fact that this 'special' doesn't show on any history sites, this thread has a nice comememorative honey coloured spotty( ignore the posts and scroll down to the image)!

I'm with youKris and think it'sjust a joker trying it on.

From what I understand the biggest danger is short circuiting these batteries. This is what is most likely to cause them to catch fire.
That was the reported problem that Sony had a year or so back with the batteries in the Vaio laptops.

HP and Dell have also had similar battery problems over the last 10 years or so.

Back OT, I've used 'pattern'batteries in several cameras and had no problems. In fact I've a pattern battery as a spare for the K5, it's the same rating as theoriginal and,so far,is proving reliable.

As it only cost £2.98 (lucky bid!) I'll see how long it lasts.

Now blackcurrant jam takes me back to my grans and child hood.

Home made from the bushes in the garden,I helped pick them and still have a healthy respect for their thorns.

Spread on home made bread..

.....those were the days,9 years old and not a care in the world...
