In the article mention is given to the Lomo brand and it's (expensive) camera range.
I've often been tempted by 80/90s compacts in charity shops, that's where I get a lot of cameras, and have indeed bought several 'oddballs'
The problem with these cameras is invariably the cost of film and developing can be several times the cost of the body, making a quick experiment, suddenly, very expensive.
I have dropped lucky on one or two occasions, but by and large they ended in failure.
B&W film, easy to home develop, doesn't give the results people want from this type of photography, but does let you try a camera out. That has at least saved me some time and cost.
The one very good thing about Lomography is, as Kris stated early in this thread, that it's perpetuating film, allowing us to still enjoy our older equipment.

Not in a hurry anyway.
I thought Bradford was bad, but Selby is worse.
It's clean, there's a good community feel, but the shops are..

I can't put my finger on what was wrong, I only know it wasn't the sort of place we're likely to go back to.
