I hadn't given it much thought. The rule of thirds is a good starting point for me but I fear there is much more to a photo than geometry.

Does anyone else feel that it becomes so widely used that when someone goes against it we can see a refreshing change?

How often am I drawn to a picture for all the wrong reasons. More importantly we should be trying to discover methods of creating images we see in our minds eye.

Discoveries such as these help us to understand generalisations but should be considered rather than obeyed.

Just sayin'

(Don't even think about it Dave or I'll hunt you down like a dog)

Fond memories of my Dad teaching me photography at a young age. Back then though it was a Rollie TLR and a darkroom. Happy days.

Must be fun looking through all those marginally varied shots.

So if your K-5 develops a problem, I fail to see where you step back to? I think my own collection would have to be much greater before getting rid of a very serviceable camera.

I started with a K-r, then got a K-5. Bought an MX-1 for travel. Considering an old 35mm film jobbie for kicks and might set up a dark room for it.

I would be in a similar situation but wouldn't dream of getting rid of the K-r because it would be my most important camera in the event of a K-5 malfunction.
