Thanks guys, at least I am reasured that I haven't done something utterly weird I didn't recognise. Could well be the timing is just wrong and I would get a quicker sale / better price come the late spring / summer.

It gives me a dilema as the reason for the sale is to buy something else that is available limited time only. I will have to consider what to do if doesn't go over the weekend & today whether to put it on e-bay or not, as stated e-bay fees are considerable but does give it a wider audience.

No offers, not even derisory ones, I'm genuinely wondering is something wrong with my ad?

I appreciate it's not all boxed and not got original bits like the hood but thought that people would offer accordingly.

Anyway, here is the last of the pictures, without decent lighting equipment as we don't shoot indoors it's been a struggle to get shots that show both blades and rims in focus and without reflections, but if people want any shots of specifics let me know.

If you want to see a shot taken with the lens, I am told that only a 100% crop will really allow you to gauge sharpness so let me know what kind of shooting you do and I will try to take something similar for you and send it by e-mail so you can manipulate to your hearts content .

Thoramay - I'd be worried that even if the Pentax has better coatings ( and I have no idea if it does) that normal 'sample variation' could mean you end up disappionted. I mean that you may have a really excellent example of the Tamron and my Pentax may just be 'normal', I have no way of knowing. If you are already happy with the Tamron I would not want to sell you a lens that disappionted you.

Thanks Mike, sadly no. I don't like having to fiddle around with plastic hoods, much preferring the flexible rubber type and so when I purchased the lens that wasn't on my radar.

This was an oversight on my part as clearly if I had asked for it the re-sale would be worth more and so the level of offer I would hope to be higher. So, a potential buyer here doesn't need to allow for a genuine Pentax hood in their offer!

Potential buyers- if you do not like rubber hoods please ensure your offer allows for funds for you to buy a plastic one either the more expensive genuine Pentax one or, as I understand it, c. £5 + for a generic 62mm one e-bay etc.

Since posting this FS here and getting no interest but some helpful advice from other members I have done more research. I think one or 2 unrealistic prices have been seen in the past leading to a mismatch between seller (including my!) expectaions and what a sensible buyer is actually willing to pay.

That leaves me knowing that there are people on this forum who want to buy one but not really knowing what to ask.

So, open to offers.

Details as below, initial snapshot here link I will try and link to some better photos later.

As most members will know this is discontinued by Pentax & is a great travel lens or for those who don't like changing lenses out and about.

Bought new from LCE in Taunton Feb. 2009. Front and end caps & rubber hood included. I bought it a year ago from a forum member. Cosmetically it looks excellent to me and optically results have been as expected for this lens & certainly no apparent problems.

It served well on a cruise last year which is what I bought it for, but with no foreign travel likely in the forseable future I want to sell it fund lens(es) I am likely to get more from in the short term

Firesheps - it might seem to you like you have got 3 different answers to the same question but in essence all answers above are different methods of doing the same thing - finding a route that gives you control manual of the ISO to play with so that you can then find the range of levels that works for you.

Choose the one that you can understand / fits your level of knowledge & experince best and then if you feel like it try others as well.

I have a k-x and found this helpful, as a first step.

Try setting the camera to Sv (Sensitivity Mode) this allows you to use the dial to set the ISO to different settings and then under similar lighting conditions to those that you are referring to try trial shots at different settings until you find one that gives the best balance of noise to other factors for your tastes.

It then gets more complex as different subjects will require different settings e.g. moving subjects need faster shutter speeds, but as first step to understanding the 'trade off's' between ISO, apeture and shutter for a new camera I found this helped.

It certainly showed the differences betwwen what our k-x (like k-r) could do acceptably to our K10D which is poor at higher ISO's.

Here is a link to photo of it in the gallery, which is the only way I can see to get it here as I don't have a Flckr account or similar.

I don't want to clog up the Gallery as I don't think that is what it is for so if you want any other photos ( e.g. of front and back of lens) let me know I will PM etc.

I am selling my Pentax DA 18-250.

As most members will know this is discontinued by Pentax & is a great travel lensor for those who don't like changing lenses out and about. It served well on a cruise last year which is what I bought it for, but with no foreign travel likely in the forseable future I want to sell it fund lenses I am likely to get more from in the short term.

I bought it a year ago from a forum member who advised me it was bought new from LCE in Taunton Feb. 2009. Front and end caps but no hood, box etc.

From my research price seems to be escalating as even second hand supply dimishes & I need to clear £300 after fees so that + £7 RMSD if cash / Bank Transfer or £310 if you want to use PayPal for protection.

It will go on e-bay 'Buy It Now' in a few days if no interest here, where it appears they do sell for more and as I will need to pay e-bay fees the price there will be higher accordingly.

I will add some pictures later today as I need to work out how.

Thanks all. Work is taking me into central Bristol next Thursday so I am going to try and see if a shop there has one in stock they will let me try a few shots with.

If only Devon was closer to Watford.
