tested with the following results:
2 cir pols (one held backwards) gives the variable nd effect (strong blue cast to image) (1 b+w and one hoya)
1 cir and one lin pol, gives the effect, when stacked in the right order. (heavy blue cast).

interesting results with varicoler polarizers also.

I have both. (stack them if you need a variable nd filter..mentioned in other threads if you want to do a search).
no probs on my ds2.
although, I mostly use the camera in manual.

Hi.
Welcome to the best forum you'll find anywhere.
Everybody else here is crazy, and I am not. (I may have that backwards...who knows..).

A uv filter would be very usefull, and some people (not I) like to keep them on for protection of the lens...(good idea for many snapshooters, but alot of pros don't want anything, unless it's for a very specific reason/shot).
the polarizer is a great and usefull filter to have, as would be a graduated nd filter.

With filters, you tend to get what you payfor, and your image quality could be adversely affected by inferior filters. if think of it this way: no matter how good a camera, or lens you have, the final image will reflect the optical quality of the worst (or dirtiest, or most scratched) peice of glass/plastic you stick in front of it.
buy the best you can afford.

very similar yes. but I think the non pentaprism viewer is to blame for the dim view.....the minolta vectis had a dim finder also....
and no point in doing a live preview, unless you got a flip out/detachable viewing screen.

I've always thought it possible to build a dslr with a half silvered mirror in the body.
you could use the reflected image in a pentaprism viewfinder, and at the same time use the imaging sensor to create a live preview, and use the whole sensor as a lightmeter.

Could also rig that setup to shoot high speed by not flipping the mirror up in burst mode (obviously you'd lose a couple stops sensitivity in low light).

Roasted, with a stuffing of butter, garlic, and tarragon. A pound of each.
Now that's what I'm talking about....
Add a bottle of wine to chase that down!

Why don't we change the subject and do a poll on how you like your chicken...
Steamed or Fried?

Steamed chicken....hmmn sounds nice.

I'm making a special dinner for my stepson (the 20yr old).
I've marinated my chicken peices in a buttermilk/lousiana redhot sauce for several hours.
I'll coat them with a flour/cajun seasoning mix (my own secret blend).
DEEP Fried of course!
(it's not fair to kill the chicken and not even give it a sporting chance of evening the score)
fried chicken, potatoe wedges and beer tonight!

Especially since the title of this thread wasn't in any way misleading!
lol.
The man can't tell us, but it'll get out soon enough!
And I'll probably have to go buy one!

I don't think it's pointless.I wouldn't get upset either.
look at how much press and hype Apple gets on thier pre product release speculation.
hype, rumour and speculation gets publicity, and feedback that help advertize and shape r&d into production products.
gettings us talking is the point!
