All I can say is this after my lunch with Pentax...Who ever said that Pentax was bound to use the same sensor as Nikon or Sony

Ah...Life is full of surprises. Better later than not at all.

Lots of lunches Ben

Interesting, interesting... don't tell me they're going to use the Canon 5D or 1Ds sensor??? (I say this absolutely tongue-in-cheek, lest my comment produce a hot debate on the APS-C vs FF yet again :roll

there was supposed to be an 18 mp kodak sensor for the 645d some time ago....maybe that found it's way into the new pentax slr....
I hear kodak is looking into some new (non-bayer) sensor algorythims to get exceptionally low noise images at high iso's....
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

I was treated to 'lunch' by the Yellow Advertiser Chief Photographer once: we went into Basildon Town Square Greggs Coffee shop where I had a Belgian Bun and a Coffee; it was very nice.

Mmmm Leffe
The VP has taste

Maybe Pentax are going for the South Korean Electronic Technology Institue's super sensitive sensor and we can all throw out our flashguns

LOL! Now the question is... are you smiling because of the lunch, or because of the news??

In plain English.....
Benjikan, told us what he had for lunch.
Everything else boils down to "Iknow something you don't know!!! Na-na-na-nanaaaa!"
All we can do is giggle and guess and wait.
Thank you for wetting our appetites Ben!

Fine but whats the point ???

If he has something to tell "tell us" otherwise dont post such a thread. Thats like giving a child a chocolate bar but not letting them open it.

Totally point less in my opinion

I don't think it's pointless.I wouldn't get upset either.
look at how much press and hype Apple gets on thier pre product release speculation.
hype, rumour and speculation gets publicity, and feedback that help advertize and shape r&d into production products.
gettings us talking is the point!

Matter of opinion I suppose

Why get upset or excited over something that might or might not be

Especially since the title of this thread wasn't in any way misleading!
lol.
The man can't tell us, but it'll get out soon enough!
And I'll probably have to go buy one!

It was also posted (just about) in the right forum.

I think Ben is as much a genius at self-promotion as he is a photographer.

And good luck to him; in his game, he needs to be.

I would love Pentax to produce a camera that beats C and N hands down. The K10D for the price is the best on the Market I feel but Im talking all round winner.

Just wish they would address the Jpeg sharpness. I know we all post edit etc.. But sometimes I take the perfect shot and just want to print as is without messing. BUT they always need that bit of sharpening. Not sure if the new lenses will help. They just need to increase the in camera levels in my opinion. say -5 to +5 with +5 being very very sharp without killing the image if you know what I mean.

If other brands can do it so can Pentax. I was looking at the Dpreview review on the olympus E410 and the jpegs look very sharp indeed without killing the image.

Blah Blah Blah there i go again on about sharpness I must be paranoid
