Cheers Vic - I like the 'old' way of doing things as my thumb is by the OK button anyway for shifting focus points, but had guessed the ISO button plus a wheel (configurable?) would probably do it.

Guess I meant to say 'an equally efficient way' of changing ISO. This would take some getting used to but am prepared to try if someone will just lend me their K-5

I agree that ISO, whilst always part of the 'holy trinity', has become a primary control in the digital age as unlike the film days we now have the freedom to change it quickly and at will on a per-shot basis.

On the K10 and K20 I used OK button + front wheel in Hyperprogram mode to adjust quickly, whereas with the K-x I feel forced more into film ways, ignoring ISO adjustments unless absolutely necessary. I have found one wheel and a bit of menu diving to be increasingly frustrating this last year or so.

No experience of the K7/5 body as yet, just hope there's a similar quick and easy ISO change as the K10/20 when the inevitable lure of the upgrade happens

Again, understood. Thanks John.

Understood John, but as official forum partner would SRS not entertain the notion of a group buy?

Makes you wonder - there are enough people on here to organise an advantageous group buy...

Thanks for your efforts Anvh but it's all a bit Heath Robinson for me. My next camera will be one that simply allows this in standard firmware.

Just hope it's still a Pentax!

What do you mean with manual controls btw?
You can set the aperture and the ev compensation (I believe)...
Not here for an argument, so let's not start one. Both aperture and EV are locked as soon as you start recording, whilst a true videographer may wish to manually change EV and aperture during recording. Video holds no interest for me but the point is I do recall something missing from K-7 final firmware that was in pre-production examples, be it manual video control, AF during video or something else.

The option to turn off DFS has become a personal 'must have' and I'd hate to see it disappear, even if it doesn't matter to most other folk.

Well you can with the 0.3 firmware so hopefully they won't take it out.
Hmm, didn't the K-7 have manual video controls in pre-relaease firmware? Until K-5 V1.0 is here nobody knows... would appreciate it if anyone can help tomorrow.

Can't justify the trip down tomorrow, so have a favour to ask the good people of PU who are attending....

If the firmware version is newer than models tested at Photokina (0.3 I think) can someone please check that the long exposure (over 30 seconds) dark frame exposure can be switched off?

Fed up of lumping the K10 around just for this ability, so it has become a 'must have' feature for me.
