Hi all, trawling through Pentax fit lenses I have come across a couple at fixed apertures of f4.5

Are there any advantages/disadvantages with such fixed apertures?

Thanks again, interesting info regarding the TC.

As another question, will my digital kit 18-55 work in manual on the P30N ?

Hi, that seems a good price for the 135 in good condition. My only reservation would be the minimum focus distance of just over 1 metre. As I would want the lens mainly for portraits I just feel this could be a bit difficult to always accommodate, especially indoors. Or would that distance be an advantage? I'm open to advise.

Hi, I know nothing about converters!

So fitted with a 50 1.7 you get a 100 3.5. £20 seems to be the common price. Lots of example, not sure I would sure a good example.

On a 28 3.5 it wouldn't be much use I guess as the 55/56 would become a f7!
Is that correct?

That is an interesting suggestion.

But how much would the 55mm f2 differ from my 50mm 1.7 when it come to portraits?

Hi, yes I might try and place an ad' in the classifieds for a lens. A lens suited for portraits up to £50 perhaps? I'm always nervous about buying secondhand gear but as long as guys are honest with descriptions I should be okay.

Thanks again to all for help and advise. Just need the camera to arrive now.

Hi, some nice examples of lenses suggested on ebay.

I'm looking at around £50 but wonder if I should try the p30n out first before I spend on another lens?

This might be a stupid question, but I assume lenses can be changed while film is in the camera as the shutter is closed?

Hi all, I am checking out all considerations. Cost is a consideration as Chris says, so an older lens will be my focus. Not many 35-105's about.

Lot's of 135's, but so many manufacturers!

Some of the other lenses are too expensive.

I'm not bothered using it with my K10. I'm looking for a certain look with film. Soft focus, head and shoulders, b&w.

Hi all, I have been posting about a Pentax P30n in the film forum. What I am looking for now is a good portrait lens. In the range of 80mm being good for portraits I hear? (28-80?)

I know there are probably lots of differing opinions regarding favorites but perhaps there is a general consensus about a particular lens or two?

I'm not looking for a new lens but an older model which would I hope cut down on costs.

Thanks John very much appreciated.

I shall check out film prices and developing prices.

I'll also look out for an 80mm lens as portraits are something I would be interested in with film.

And thanks for the practical info regarding loading film e.t.c.
