Same with me - until I realised that some of what I considered personal and of little interest to other people was much like the photos that other people were posting on the forum and which I found interesting.

Thanks. Fair point which I'll keep in mind.

That sounds a lovely little set - would love to see some photos of them
Thank you for that Lenny. In addition I've since picked up a fine example of an Asahi-Kogaku Takumar 50mm f3.5 m37 in chrome to go with the above. It's small size makes it more akin to a pancake lens than a regular 50, The size to weight ratio of these lenses is incredible. They all appear to be beautifully engineered from solid brass and heavily chromed which has certainly contributed to their longevity.

I'm not much into nor have ever been in sharing my images on line as I never considered them interesting enough - just a personal thing. But hey, never say never. I may do a family portrait of the Kogaku family... lol...

An interesting trend amongst the videographer and film making fraternity is in the increased use of vintage lens and in particular, the rehousing of those vintage lenses by specialist companies for use on modern systems. Below is a link to a fascinating video of one such company which highlights the level of expertise and passion which goes into the detail, engineering and technical skill of the rehousing of these extremely expensive old new lenses.

Whether you are interested in video work or not, In watching this video I doubt you will fail to be both engrossed and enlightened in the process.

Proud new owner and custodian of a beautiful vintage Tower 24 film camera from the fifties replete with an equally beautiful Asahi-Kogaku Takumar 58mm f2.4 silver m37 lens (Simon's utak recently did a review of this lens), also a stunning Asahi-Kogaku Takumar 100mm f3.5 silver m37 lens with a triplet optical system. This was the predecessor of the the later, very rare, highly sought after and hideously expensive Takumar 100mm m42 3.5 lens, sporting the identical optical system with a black and silver livery and more typical Takumar body style. (Simon's utak also did a review of this lens recently and probably the only video review available) Personally, I prefer the diminutive beauty of the former. Lastly, an Asahi-Kogaku TeleTakumar 135mm f3.5 37mm lens in silver. Perhaps not considered as desirable as its 58mm and 100mm siblings but never-the-less a beautiful piece of engineering to complete the set.

I don't have a TV but if I did I'd be horrified to find something like that lurking inside it.

Nice photo's and technique though.

Like Flan above, a hand strap is permanently attached to my camera and qualifies as my most used accessory. I don't like a camera dangling from a neck strap and once you've tried a hand strap there's no going back IMO.

A truly super bargain buy for some one of a very respected and capable lens judging by Lenny's excellent supporting photographs.

If I may comment on the issue of the light ring around the rear element (a non issue really) the light ring resembles an internal reflection and if it is, I have a possible theory for its cause. The lens looks like it has been a favourite workhorse for someone and it's just possible that in its past, the rear element for whatever reason may have been removed, possibly to clean it say, leading to the edge blacking of the rear lens being accidently removed either in part or in whole during the process. Lens edge blacking is done as a precaution specifically to prevent internal reflections. My theory should be relatively easy to prove or disprove by removing the rear element and inspecting it and if I'm correct, just as easy to remedy by re-blacking/painting the edge of the lens again.

It's just a theory mind and probably a loose one at that, that said it's clear that whatever the cause it has no effect upon its use as perfectly illustrated by Lenny. So if the new owner isn't an inveterate tinkerer and insomniac like myself who can't resist a conundrum then simply use it as is and enjoy it to its full potential.
