You may have read on previous threads problems I thought I was having with AF at long distances with the Sigma 150-500mm. I took it in to SRS and Chris confirmed there seemed to be a problem, No problem sending it back and a good deal on a hire lens to boot in the meantime

Optically it's exactly the same.
Yeah think you should have done some 'light reading' before purchase, guess the middle man Ebay will be happy either way

Friendly Well of course I know that. At the price offered well worth it to evaluate the benefits of the other features without losing out. My conclusions are:-
I've found the mount on the DAL to be perfectly robust and an identical(less the logo) hood can be purchased for a few pounds. Quickshift is certainly beneficial, just a question as to whether it's a hundred pounds beneficial or the difference would be better spent elsewhere.:

Apologies. Although it was only meant to be light hearted. I don't blame you at all. I am in a similar position. I got one as well. I wanted to see how much better it was than than my DAL 55-300mm. Got to do a few tests yet but one will have to go. Either way someone else will get a bargain.

Current Ebay ad for DA 55-300mm
"This lens is only for sale as I dropped loads of hints to my family that I desperately wanted one for my birthday and surprisingly got two!"

Yeah, right, the half price Amazon family that'll be then

say SHQ on the TC or the box?
Apologies, it is indeed "MC", not "SHQ"... I always thought the only Pz-AF version was the SHQ one. All very confusing!
Still, image quality seems to be good as far as I am concerned, so I am very happy with it.
---------------------------------
I think mine is the same as yours - it doesn't have the SHQ but has seven contacts and as it works AF with both SDM 55-300mm and Sigma 150-500mm USM assume it would work with DA* 300?

Mmm, thank for the images - lovely Kingfisher shots by the way. I may persevere with the weight of my Sigma 150-500 a bit longer.

Has anyone used the Kenko Pz-AF 1.5x Teleplus MC with a DA*300mm? Mine autofocuses with both my DA55-300mm and the Sigma 150-500mm with USM.
Main question s if anyone has are - does it autofocus and how was the quality?

How true this all is! My slight variation is I have trouble parting with the accumulated cheap ones. e.g 200mm auto Takumar, Tamron Adaptall 17A 35-70mm. They are just so well made - I mean take the latter, £25 in mint condition in it's lovely little black leather case. I'd rather keep it and just sit there holding it and playing with the focusing ring. Now maybe that's a male thing as well.....
