You've captured the steam days atmosphere very well Peter. The second engine is the one they nickname the Pocket Rocket, I captured it at Whitby when I was really there to photograph the Goths last autumn. I wondered what that 'lopsided' tower block was when I've seen it on my several visits to Salford Quays, Greater Manchester. david

Yes, I liked this retro treatment in your WSR series. It sums up the rural railway atmosphere of half a century ago to perfection. david

Very fine detail in this dramatic picture. Crisply sharp. david

Tree rat? Maybe. But this a red squirrel and this is an endangered species in England. Its a lovely picture with great colour. david

Excellent quality all round and I think the black and white conversion is great. The the movement blur in the crops is a bonus for me. david

The wires were a bugbear at Shap as well. However you've done well to capture this, I imagine the train was going pretty fast at this spot. david.

Virile Eastern and North Eastern locos were named after birds of prey, ducks, racehorses, hunts or football teams. Oops, just remembered, one was called Pretty Polly:oops::oops:

Great to see this picture Peter. Its amazing how many steam trains are let loose on the national rail network considering they were allegedly done away with in 1968. david

[quote:3496ace15f="davidtrout"] David, they have to be nursed, mollycoddled, coaxed, gently persuaded, and encouraged by talking to them in a soft voice to get the best out of them, Got to be a Woman:D:wink::wink: They also have to be obeyed, driven to the shopping centres, kidded that their hair's really very nice, and have the washing up done for them. I couldn't do that for a Tornado or a Mall ...

Another stunning black and white image from you Jaromir. I like it a lot, especially the field patterns and the darker clouds higher in the s davidky.
