Last time I saw OC he was a pile of wreckage at Bressingham. Was 35 years ago though, I like the angle you have on him. Most loco shots go from right to left.

Yes Peter she was getting a move on here and the train stayed on the main line so I didn't get chance for a lot of shots! all over in seconds

You beat me to it uploading a shot of this train Cliff. And very nice your's is too. Like you my thanks are to Peter Weber who gave directions for a location on Shap to catch the train just over an hour later. The sun was almost directly into the lens there so my best shots were at Appleby on the way back. I'm about to upload one from there.

PS Oliver Cromwell's got to be a he not a she. I can't think of any loco as a she, like you can a ship.

They also have to be obeyed, driven to the shopping centres, kidded that their hair's really very nice, and have the washing up done for them. I couldn't do that for a Tornado or a Mallard.[quote:3496ace15f="davidtrout"]

Virile Eastern and North Eastern locos were named after birds of prey, ducks, racehorses, hunts or football teams.
Oops, just remembered, one was called Pretty Polly

Nice shot Cliff, I was looking out for your's and David's offerings.
Looks like she (Oliver, she?) is 'Forging Ahead' from the exhaust.
Was that on the main line or did it do a detour through Earlestown to allow the fast traffic to pass?
Regards
Peter
p.s. last time I went through Vulcan village with my camera gear, I thought it wise not to hang about for too long!
