Another excellent black and white landscape from you Jaromir. As always there's some lovely atmosphere. David

It is a little tilted to one side but that's easily fixed in Photoshop Larry. As for no tripod or histogram - who needs 'em. You can see with your eyes whether it looks right or not without the technology. David

Not a waste of time Ken. There's some fine detail in the old boat which makes a fine foreground for the scene. David

Well caught Cliff. The train is pinsharp but the foliage and rails seem blurred - did you zoom during exposure to create a pan effect? However you did it this is most effective. I'm glad I wasn't stuck somewhere out in the wilds of the Settle and Carlisle Railway waiting for this if it was over an hour late. David

Interesting detail shot Cliff. If those valves had suddenly blown you would have jumped and ended up with a shakey picture.:D:D:D David

Yes it does make a good picture. The carpet beater and old saw lined up with the pre-Raphaelite painting creates an image oozing nostalgia. Your mono treatment with a hint of tint completes the magic. David

Nice one John. Do you sometimes have trouble getting the SDM to snap into focus quickly? I've started using my old FA 70-200mm zoom for trains moving at speed. Apart from giving me a longer reach than the DA*50-135mm zoom its much quicker focusing. David

I like the way you caught this coming out from under a bridge Cliff. It fans out the exhaust and makes for a more dramatic picture. I missed this engine on the Settle and Carlisle Railway on Saturday but you've caught it nicely here. David
