Excellent set.

These aren't using autofocus on the K5 are they?
Hi Alan, I've fixed it as far as possible by going into the Debug Mode on PK_Tether and making a large global adjustment. This has helped! Also, it's much better on the Sigma 150-500 than it is on most of my other lenses! Not sure why this is? The problems come when the light drops off and once the levels are a bit low it's all over the place.

Regards
David

You may have noticed a few shots being uploaded to the Forum and the Gallery by Shaun Wilson, Andrew A and myself, taken at a small local Music and Dance Festival (T-fest) held in Tickhill, South Yorkshire last Saturday. Here is the first of a series of three from me, these all taken with the K-5. I'll post another two sets later, one with the K-5iis and one with the K-01. Apologies in advance for the watermarks, I was told I had to apply these.

As always, CC is invited, especially as this is new territory for me.

Test 1 is way overdone on the HDR front, but it actually has far more detail than the other two and IMO would be the best if the effects had been applied with a lighter touch.

However, for me, none of them actually look right - they look 'plastic' and artificial.

any suggestions on that front David?
It's all down to personal preference Alistair, if it were one of mine I would increase the contrast / levels a bit, darken the tarmac and do a bit of work on the smoke to increase the dynamic range between the darker and lighter areas. Also, this would look great as a high contrast black and white.

I would be happy to have a go with the image you've posted here but only if that's OK with you.

Lens received today and in magnificent condition - as new in fact. Many thanks Roy for a superb transaction; I'll do my best to take some good shots with this lens and I'll post a few for you to see.

Good shots, the third one is great and is head and shoulders above the other two; it could also be made a lot better still with a bit of careful processing

I would definitely recommend something like the DA*16-50 and DA*50-135, but this would leave you needing a third lens as the reach on these is not long enough for motorsports.

I'm not sure about the longer lens recommendation and I'm not knowledgeable enough about flash, except that in my limited experience I prefer manual flashguns to TTL ones and they have the added bonus of being relatively cheap!
