A good demonstration with the handrail. Basically if you want to show something in the foreground you need to get realy close to it, otherwise it will be lost. Try to keep the camera level or you will get converging verticals, unless of course that is what you want, you can stretch perspective quite effectively, and remember anything in the distance will look very far away.
Super wide is not everyones cup of tea, but can yield some fantastic results.

I believe you have the latest update. As for focus adjustment, their is a hack available, search the forum, if you cannot find the hack by searching then perhaps you should leave it alone anyway
Personally i would take a few shots with the 16-45 on af and then decide.
Enjoy the K10.

they just chose a strange focal length for the fun of it
I think you are probably correct, Pentax for innovation and fun, the others for the logical.

Tamron 70-300 macro is a good first zoom for around £80 used. It does suffer from purple fringing in high contrast, easily corrected in PS if you need to.

DA 55-300 is a great step up for another £120, they usually go for around £200 used. I would advise the DA rather than the DAL, the loss of quickshift and hood does make a difference.

If you have £600 srs are currently selling the 150-500mm OS HSM zoom, this is a fantastic lens at a very good price, TBH it would be worth going overdrawn to get this now.See threads in the forum for example images.

For the first time in months I am able to go to Snowdonia tomorrow.
This is an extract from the weather forecast

Quote:
Considerable buffeting on fairly low hills toward west, and walking or in
places mobility very difficult where exposed on higher hills. Ferocious
gusts will blow downslope in places. Significant wind chill

Oh well, looks like the zoo again.
