I had a few days visit to Anglesey last week. Just had a walk on various days, taking my camera everywhere, of course. Here is a small selection of the shots I took.

It's the reason why I wouldn't use a single laptop, that it's a single point of backup.

When I went over to France I took a laptop and an external hard drive so I had 2 backups.

The idea of just shooting to 2 cards will be my best solution, I think. I will be taking a small tablet for emails etc.

I never take jpgs, as I previously mentioned. That would be a waste of available space for me. And that, obviously, means I don't have to worry about forgetting I have changed settings.

Anyway, thanks for all your help and suggestions. I have decided now, so no need for any more comments.

Cheers, everyone!

Good plan, Gwyn, that sounds very sensible!

I think that's the way I'll end up going. Cards are so cheap nowadays, I don't think, now, that it's worth buying something standalone, when I'd probably have to have 2 to establish an immediate backup. Shooting to two cards would do that.

Yes, the simple solution would be to use multiple cards.

I always shoot RAW, never jpg, but I could easily shoot to both cards, and then just use new cards when they are getting full.

I was thinking that, Kim. Thinking aloud!!

Obviously I'm going to want to do it as cheaply as possible! But reliably!

Thanks for the ideas so far.

To add a bit more detail.

I will be away for 14 days maximum at any one time. I will have access to electricity, and I will sometimes be in foreign parts, so will use an adapter for the power.

I will be using either a K1 and/or K3, so can write to 2 cards at once.

I already have external disk drives. Could I just use a card reader to load onto those?

Hi Guys,

Just after a little bit of advice.

I'm going to be going on a trip where I won't have access to a laptop, but I'll want to backup any photos I take.

So, basically, what do people use and what would you recommend?

Cheers, Neil

Love "shooting" these guys when we visit Brownsea Island (Poole Harbour) - I think it's a bit easier on the island though
I've been to both locations and there easier at Formby IMHO, I've even had them running across by boots !!
They do. Or they did when I was there. Other people have been there and never seen them.

The main problems where that they were nearly always in deep shadow. Or, as you say, they were often so close that it wasn't possible to take a shot!
