Thanks for the extra info Stanovich, I had forgotten that.

What, our government? Surely not?
nice phrase... I'm writing it down now

Yup, that could be the one that really make the idiots... sorry, 'government', look up from their port and cheese and actually think about this for a moment.
I stick to my very simple (simplistic?) theory that if it isn't yours, you can't use it without permission.... what could be more straight forward?

In a nut shell, the media moguls have come up with a cunning plan to steal photographs and pay the government a token amount to keep them sweet.
All governments are corrupt and stupid, to a greater or lesser extent

I'm bringing this up again because it is essential that we are all made aware of this and understand the implications.
This site spells out the concerns succinctly:
loss of copyright in orphaned digital images

The grey panel on the right gets to the point and raises some other issues I hadn't considered.
You don't have to agree, but please read it.

I was wondering when someone would pick up on the rather OTT colours and contrast. I actually processed it more subtly than this but it looked drab in print. This one is reduced from my 'tweaked for print' version, so may well look a bit gaudy on some monitors

Thanks folks.
Forgot to mention that it was Ken's lovely little red squirrel that reminded me I was going to upload this image.

Knocked up this image for Molly's pre-school a while back.
Thought I would share it here so that anyone with a fence or similar between them and the subject should snap away regardless because there's a good chance it can be removed very simply in PP.
This time, all that was needed to resurrect this dreary picture of a captive animal was a bit of dodge and burn over the blurred areas, a hue/saturation layer and the usual levels adjustment.
Lens up close to the fence, low f-stop (5.6 here), 300mm, ISO 200, animal about 30m away.

Here's the print for the children's toy cupboard (Theirs had no watermark!)
