This image was marked as rejected because it is a bit messy, but then I noticed the cheeky passenger up on the right. That little dude has serious thrill issues...

Heres a stink bug,
Nice! certainly very informative.
Any more magnification left in that kit of yours Clarky? How do your macro lenses perform on the bellows?

Nice grasshopper eyes 08tiger, lighting is a bit harsh tho'. Is this straight from the flash? I usually bounce the flash off a large reflector hovering over the lens, it is a problem sneaking up on the blighters* but it makes nice 'sky like' highlights.

I would say it has never been more difficult to make a living at this.
Everyone and his wife and kids (even dogs now!) has a camera, they all love their own pictures.
The vast majority just email and facebook their pictures instead of printing them. Then there are cheap image libraries popping up all over etc.

If your images stand out and you are good at marketing and charging money for your work, you might still make it. But personally, I just see it as a way of adding value to the day job. My web/graphics work often requires me to take pictures and sometimes I'm asked to do something for an office wall, but it just goes on the bill.

That video could have been describing my last shoot, a couple of weeks ago.
Horrible place to photograph - too dark to focus, almost no ambient lights, really low white ceiling
So everything manual, 1/6th, f4.5 400iso. (really need the K20 at 1600 +iso).
Just to add to the hassle, it was very tight and it was salsa so loads of movement (very little posing on the spot).
Rattle off lots of pictures and expect a low hit rate.

It's looking like somewhere in the middle of Dartmoor, or between Plymouth and Exeter, maybe on the coast. Happy to car share from Plymouth. (or motorbike if I get it MOT'd in time... and you're adventurous!)

Discuss the MOVEMENT competition here.
I (the judge) won't read this after the first submission.

You may have noticed I love movement in an image, so lets see your best shot.
Any interpretation will be considered, but it must predominantly involve movement, whether frozen or blurred or suggested in some other way.
Closing date: Wed. 24th June. 18:00 BST. Rules

Have fun!

hey hey! I won!
Thanks Lilly. Sorry for the late response - been out dancing with the owner of the     ...hands.
I'm really pleased you mentioned hanging it on the wall, as my internal brief was to make something to go in a frame. cool!
I loved Hefty's scene, well conceived, well crafted and funny, that girl is hot! and the dude? well I hate him already
Also Prieni and Judith Anne, and Hayworth's - beautiful... and... (edit) oops! take children to pre school

Right, er.. better get my thinking cap on, but I think it might be something about movement.
