Ned Bunnell's posted a new blog item: http://nedbunnell.blogspot.com/2009/05/k-7-brochure-copy.html

It says in there that when using video, AF is achieved using the rear AF button. Obviously that's still a draft text, but it's presumably still on the cards at some point.

And Robin, what are all the flaws you keep mentioning?

Daniel, all of the primes are excellent lenses in day to day use, so I don't see why I would get rid of them. Look at the distortion free performance of the 15mm. Look at the full frame shot. You wouldn't be unhappy with that, would you? I'm not, anyway.
Well, I was just comparing them to the results I might expect, and they looked to fall short to me.

When I got my DA*300mm I was amazed at the detail it produced, here's a shot:

That's shown at 100% (i.e. full size and cropped down), and sharpened. I tried exactly the same sharpening on the section of bricks that Stefan posted and it didn't come close to this. (See this thread for this photo in context, and other examples).

Personally I would be a little unhappy with your lens, but if you're happy with it, that's all that matters. It really looks like it's out of focus to me though.

Just checked the Exif data on this shot and the aperture was F8, Macro. Is this too wide for Macro?
Not necessarily. I often shoot macro stuff at f/8 or wider, even f/2.8 now and again. Depends on the look I want.

For example: https://www.pentaxuser.com/photo/user-1387/Dragonfly-1006 , taken at f/5.6.

Usually by kit lens we intend the DA 18-55mm M I or II , so reading your first post, it was unclear as where you could find 70mm on an 18-55mm lens.
Exactly, thank you Nathan.

The results here are picked from several focussing efforts and in each case manual focussing either side of the autofocus results is less sharp than the auto.
Well, if that's the case, and you're sure that the focusing is as good as it gets, then I would get that 15mm replaced for a start. From what I've read and heard from other users, I would expect more from the 35mm too.

Er, kit lens at 70mm?

I'm surprised by the 15mm one, and also the 35mm to be honest (in the centre). Did you bracket your focusing? Could it be that there's a focusing error with the primes?

Robin, do you not think that Canon are currently working on a 60D with video capabilities? And Tooks has already mentioned that the Nikon D400 is (apparently) going to 'do' video. Pentax have got there first, good for them. And they've done it with autofocus too, which the others, so far, haven't.

There's been a lot of talk about pricing, and I've just had a look to see what the release SRP of the Canon 50D was: £1200/$1399 body only. The K-7 is a whole lot more camera, in my opinion, for less money.

I'm going to love using the video, every now and again, when I get one. The K-7 will be a huge step up from my K10D.

Is it this one?

To be honest, I would think most greenhouses are much of a muchness. Why do you need to know?

Yep, love it. Use it for flowers and stuff as much as wildlife (not a big bird photographer), but some examples of mine are on this thread.

Peter, put your 12-24 (with hood) on a film body (you do still have one, don't you?), zoom out to 12mm and look through the viewfinder. You will see that there's a rectangular dark area around the edges of the frame. Now take the hood off...

A petal hood just gives the most effective shielding without encroaching on the field of view. The 200 and 300mm lenses have round hoods because they give plenty of shielding without having to resort to being a petal type. They could be, but then they'd be at least half as long again.
