I'm at work, picked up a box that I thought contained birdsound CDs and stuff, but then saw the delivery note attached was from Intro2020, the Pentax distributers.
It could only mean one thing!
In the box was a nice, shiny, new DA*300mm.
Had a very quick play, but had to put it away again as I'm supposed to be working.
Will try it out properly tomorrow.

I love the way you can see the midgets between the neck and the legs of the white horse.
I'm sure you won't mind me correcting your english - the word (I hope) you meant was 'midges' (tiny flies), not 'midgets' (tiny people).
These do look good, but I'm sure as you get used to the manual focus more, you'll get some stunning shots with it.
Waiting for my DA* 300mm...

The Chemist I mean, not a pair of boots, that could have completely the wrong effect.

Nice pic, good, sympathetic lighting. I tend to prefer portraits with this natural look, as opposed to the studio shots often posted (although John Riley's recent ones I did like).

Heres the system I used whilst camping for 3 weeks at the Scouts World Jamboree last year.

The damselfly was taken using a tripod, just about minimum focus distance. This lens is going to be good for dragonflies...
1/45s, f/4.5, ISO200, handheld.
1/4s, f/5.6, ISO100, tripod.
1/20s, f/4.5, ISO400, handheld.
