Then again you might be comparing the Mk 1 and Mk2 in which case I agree with your comment.
I'm sure he was, saying that a kit lens won't have a constant aperture, or one that starts at f/2.8. The Tamron is a significant step up from a kit lens.

Just wondering: is that a known fact or speculation? Even if it is replaced, the DA16-45 will be around forever on the used market. As I said elsewhere, this new lens fills no niche for me. I'd rather have an extra 1mm on the wide end than 25mm extra in the portrait range at an unusable f/4.

This is a lens desperately looking for a market and I don't think it will find one. There are faster, wider or cheaper alternatives already. Though not with SDM.
Specualtion on my part, although someone obviously knows better. I can't imagine them having a 16-45 f/4 and 17-70 f/4 in the same lens range, but who knows. I imagine they were thinking they needed to update the 16-45 to give it SDM, and decided to improve the specs while they were at it. If it were 16-70 I'd be more interested, 17mm's not quite wide enough for me.

Well, there's bound to be a few s/h ones popping up when people feel compelled to 'upgrade', I'm sure quite a few people would appreciate the extra reach.

Actually, it sounds quite tempting.

Well, in all probability you won't have the option of going for the 16-45 soon, this new lens will replace it. And remember that the list price of the 16-45 is actually £399, and until recently you'd be lucky to get one under £300.

SRP of the 16-50 is £549.

You don't need an HDR program to replicate an ND Grad: https://www.pentaxuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6327&start=20

No, although hadn't spotted that one either. Further down the page, bit of an 'allo, allo' moment.

No, I didn't see the 'flont' page one. There's a much better one than that.

I bet you were crying with laughter, but for exactly how long?

Oh, hang on, just seen the one you meant.
