Or get something like this and tell them it was £500.

Perhaps it's just realised the water may be deeper than it first thought.

Perfect. Maybe a tad more perfect if you'd captured the whole reflection.
Yeah, can you go back again and get it portrait format with the complete reflection?

Excellent shot with great timing. I love shots like this because they show things you don't normally see (probably why I like macro a bit too ), like the heron's thighs, they just looks comically thin for a bird this size.

P.S. It's missing a feather on it's wing tip, could you please ensure you get a perfect specimen next time!

Not a fox then. Unless it's a big one.

Your K20D has the interval timer. You could just set it up to take a shot every 30 seconds or so, use a big memory card and small image size, you should be able to get a day's worth of shot which you could then just whizz through to see who did it.

Things are disappearing and moving with no real explanation so I want to see who is doing it.
What sort of things? Children's toys? Flower pots? Anything small and interesting looking/colourful?

Weekly Competition #51 "The Street" - Thinking of the work of Cartier-Bresson, Kertesz, Diane Arbus, Weegee and the rest, I'd like to see what you can do with real life on the street.

The point is that 'street photography' is a readily accepted and understood genre.....

....so, if a main genre is picked as the topic of competition it's not really good form to then judge the entries by inappropriate standard for that genre.
Well, to be precise, 'street photography' wasn't the topic of the competition, 'The Street' was. Gartmore's original thoughts on the subject were obviously along these lines, but in the end, a different sort of picture, illustrating 'The Street' won, because it was the best of the lot for him.

I've set a couple of themes for these competitions in the past, and when you do you have an idea of the sort of shots you'd expect to see, but someone always comes up with an image that is at odds with that preconception, and in this case it was obviously the winner.

Judges decision etc etc, and, like football, it's only a game.

Just a thought - you don't have it set on the anti-redeye setting do you? If you're talking about a gap between the flashes that you could actually count between, then something's not right. It should just be a split second, as Chris says, not enough time to blink fully.

Actually they're black-headed gulls, not the sometimes very defensive terns that dive-bomb you if you're anywhere near their nest.

Re: cropping/framing, I was using the term 'crop' not to imply that you'd cropped the image after taking it, but cropping the subject when you took it. Framing would have been a better term, I agree.

Second one looks a little less bright than the first, to me it looks as though the exposure could be lifted a bit, but then Chris might not like it again. Also, I prefered the tendrils of the back flower in the first shot, they had a nice highlight on them, and were a little further from the edge of the frame. Still a lovely shot though.
