I've taken some time off from my macro photography to check the birds at on of our local nature reserves. A bit quiet, but this Heron kindly came in for a landing:

Perfect. Maybe a tad more perfect if you'd captured the whole reflection.

I love it. Thanks for sharing it.

Yeah, can you go back again and get it portrait format with the complete reflection?

Excellent shot with great timing. I love shots like this because they show things you don't normally see (probably why I like macro a bit too ), like the heron's thighs, they just looks comically thin for a bird this size.

Dan

P.S. It's missing a feather on it's wing tip, could you please ensure you get a perfect specimen next time!

I'll go back with some grey card and super-glue

Unfortunately, the picture isn't cropped so couldn't include any more in it. I would normally try and include the reflection but it's a prime lens, so would have had to walk back out of the hide

I like the way his feet are juuuust about to touch the water.

Here's one a bit later - together with little fishy, and a proper reflection

Brilliant.

Love that pose - who would think that under those feathers lies such a scrawny body

I love your second shot. It really shows the wonderful markings and shades of grey on that bird that most people wouldn't notice.

Loving that shot chirpy!

It has something of the 'Matrix' about it, the way it appears to be hovering, and it might just be me but I think it also has quite a comical expression on its face!

Perhaps it's just realised the water may be deeper than it first thought.
